Another installment of giving better answers to the questions asked at Debi Pearlβs site message board for the book βPreparing To Be A Help Meetβ. Many young ladies ask questions on all sorts of different subjects brought up by the book. There was just one big problem, many of the answers stray into either the outright bad and emotionally unhealthy to dangerous. Yes, typical Debi Pearl borderline abusive. Hereβs what weβre going to be doing here at NLQ. Every week, once or twice a week, Iβll be posting up one of the questions from the message board and ask you, our readers, to answer that poor soulβs question in a way that is logical, rational and the best possible solution, in other words 180 degree turn from Debi and friends answers. As alwaysΒ all spelling and grammar in the posting is unchanged from the original author.
How should I prepare for the mission field?
Iβm a young woman in high school. Since long before I was saved at age 12, Iβve always wanted to be a missionary somewhere. Iβm especially interested in the Central/South Americans, but Iβm open to wherever God wants me to go. Iβm not old enough to go yet, but Iβm wondering in what ways I should prepare for the mission field? As a young single woman, what would you encourage me to pursue as far as training that would enable me to help people physically and Iβd be able to teach them about God at the same time? Iβve thought about maybe going into nursing, because I really enjoy helping people in that way and thatβs something that I could possibly do. I also thought about maybe taking a short teacherβs training course, because that is something I might be able to doβIβm homeschooled, and Iβve helped to teach my brothers a little. Or is there something else thatβs more needed than a nurse or a teacher?
Also, if nursing or teaching is something that is needed, would any of you know of any places (preferably Christian) that I could receive the training at? Thanks ahead of time for answering my questions.
No one bothered to answer this young woman. What would you suggest?
