Quoting Quiverfull: Homosexuality Obsessions in the Church? March 31, 2017

quotingquiverfullby Tim Bayly from Bayly Blog – Every Disability Conceals a Vocation….

Editor’s note: Sharing this not because of the bad theology that God causes us to be disabled so that He can work some great grand vocation or gift from us. No, as toxic as that thought is it’s not why I’m sharing this. This piece, and the two immediately proceeding it, are all consumed with ranting against people who are not straight heterosexuals. Which makes me wonder why Bayly and so many others in the more conservative branches of Evangelicalism so obsessed with what other people do in their bedrooms? It seems almost obscene and telling that every post involves someone else’s sexual choices.

Don’t say I never quote Lewis. It’s true I prefer Chesterton, but here’s a great Lewis line forwarded by a dear friend just now:

β€œEvery disability conceals a vocation.”

Actually, it’s a phrase from the middle of a letter he wrote to Sheldon Vanauken quoted in Vanauken’s A Severe Mercy, so the capital β€œE” and period should both be an ellipsis, technically speaking.

In this particular case, Lewis is speaking of the handicap of being homosexually tempted. ChristiansΒ don’t speak of homosexual or same-sexΒ β€œattraction” or β€œdesire,” but rather homosexual and same-sexΒ β€œtemptation.”

Yet hisΒ statement works just as well with blindness, cerebral palsy, and pedophilia.

God is no man’s debtor. He always does a perfect job stewarding our suffering and the suffering of our loved ones.

QUOTING QUIVERFULL is a regular feature of NLQ – we present the actual words of noted Quiverfull leaders, cultural enforcers and those that seek to keep women submitted to men and ask our readers: What do you think? Agree? Disagree? This is the place to state your opinion. Please, let’s keep it respectful – but at the same time, we encourage readers to examine the ideas of Quiverfull and Spiritual Abuse honestly and thoughtfully.
