by Pat Robertson from his television show The 700 Club as reported by Nova
Editorβs note: Pat Robertson always manages to put the most horrible spin on every situation heβs asked about in the question part of his show. Why not simply respond that as a Christian we should be reaching out to help struggling single mothers, not demand they marry off?
A question asked by a viewer:
βMy daughter has been living with a man for 3 years and has a baby with him,β viewer Mark wrote in an email. βShe has told her kids that they are married but she wonβt marry him because she has had 2 husbands already.β
Robertsonβs response:
βI donβt know what kind of bringing up she had, but she didnβt have a very good one. A couple of marriages already? She is obviously undisciplined, rebellious, she canβt hold a stable relationship. And now she wonβt enter into one even though sheβs got a child by this man.β
Pat Robertson said that single mothers are asking to be sent to hell by remaining unmarried. The con artist also dared to presume what God would do to mothers who choose to stay single.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg_RYrgP5zQβSheβs tempting God. I mean, man. She is walking on the edge. You think Wallenda (think he might be referencing The Flying Wallendas here) was taking a chance? Sheβs really on a tightrope. Iβd warn her because sheβs asking for it. Itβs going to be really tough. Itβs easier to ask for forgiveness than permission β thatβs a big joke. Not when youβre dealing with the Lord. Sooner or later, Godβs going to say, βThatβs all she wrote, baby.β And itβs going to be tough.β
