No Longer Quivering
Will try to resume posting here while it looks like I have at least another week perhaps two of ‘mananas’ until the Ticos install my interwebs. For now I’m going to be eating out a lot just to leach onto someone elses wifi to update here. Tonight I am at Witch’s Rock in Tamarindo with endless nachos and mojitos. I need the mojitos desperately after reading through the piles of drivel at Lori Alexander’s site, what’s happening with Derick Dillard’s confession and breakdown on Twitter outing Jim Bob Duggar as the only one getting paid by TLC and guys with slender twisted grips on the subject of masculinity. Like Doug Wilson here.
Doug wants to believe that the servant leadership moment has effectively clipped off the testicles of the American Christian male. Funny, because if I recall correctly that dude he claims to follow, Jesus, was all about serving others. Servant leadership, not sheer derriere-like behavior.
Doug, like Tim Bayly, Steven Anderson, Kevin Swanson and countless others pushes an over the top hyper masculinity that brings forth memories of ‘Tom of Finland’ and these guys below.
If that’s your only standard of what a man is, great, I’m glad it works for you, that you enjoy it. The problem with Doug and these guys is that they cannot conceive in any other way for a man to be. It’s tragic and sad, not just for those of us that regularly get exposed to their frightened twaddle, but for themselves, their families and everyone they know. They limit everyone, themselves and others into lesser lives.
Here’s what Doug said about his disdain for “servant leadership”:
Oh my, he’s claiming Jesus did it differently. I don’t see how. Serving, a servant’s heart and thinking more about the needs of other instead of yourself is the crux of servant leadership. It has nothing to do with what gonads you have, how you think those same gonads give you extra rights, or exempt you from responsibilities, work and caring for others.
Et tu oink, Doug?
Feminism has done less to drive forward crazy, hyper, toxic ideas on what being a man is than Evangelicalism. Much of the worst ideas in toxic masculinity come springing straight out of you and your cronies.
