Lori Alexander: When Modesty Takes a Weird Turn

Lori Alexander: When Modesty Takes a Weird Turn July 14, 2018

Noticed this in the afternoon and shared it on Facebook.

When modesty takes a very weird direction. Today at Lori Alexander’s The Transformed Wife Lori wrote yet again about women enticing men with ‘slutty’ clothing, illustrating her post with a photo of a woman’s legs below the knee ending in her high heels. One of Lori’s own commenters accused Lori of sharing a photo that will entice men. Since when did shins and ankles become so alluring to the average man?

Screen cap of the objectional part of the photo used followed by the comment. Not going to subject anyone to that crazy font Lori uses that various internet browsers likely mangles anyway.

I want to know what this poor man does in his workaday, haul his wife along to speak to the women at work? Who orders his lunch? Deals with cashiers at the 7-11 for this guy?

These people just need to come out and admit they want to make women wear burqas all the time

  • Maura Hart

these weird men she is referring to are raised by women. one wonders what in hell they are being taught by their mothers

  • Anonyme

What is it with evangelical men thinking (or being conditioned to think) that every female within a fifty yard radius is a temptress? They claim to be the stronger vessel, but, need someone to police them. Or avoid women who aren’t family unless there is someone there to supervise. Even if it’s in a strictly professional environment (I’m looking at you, Mike Pence).

  • AFo

If that picture can cause you to “stumble,” then you are the one with the problem.

  • Zeldacat

I bet these same men think every woman wants them (sluts!). I bet they think every gay man they encounter wants them too (perverts!). They can’t comprehend that they are not All That.

I found a replacement picture that Lori should use on her blog. This one shan’t cause the men to stumble./s

(I censored the womans face for her privacy.)

  • Brian Davis

Shouldn’t that dress be longer? I can still see her shoes.

  • epeeist

(I censored the womans face for her privacy.)

Her face isn’t covered? Now I am salivating.

  • FireBreathingLunatic

Hmmm…This reminds me of a very similar dogma propagated by an equally close-minded & even potentially toxic religion. Only that one, in its most radical form, calls for women to be covered from head to toe–literally–for fear that even the sight of a woman’s bare wrists could elicit strong desires in the male–& the woman would, unconditionally, always be at fault for it. & very similarly, the husband is responsible for the wife, & the wife can only show her human figure to the husband.
It’s always the women who are responsible for wearing the most unappealing bed-sheet garb to make sure they don’t attract any male attention; in these religions, it is never the responsibility of the man for being enough of a generally decent human being to control his own urges, desires, eyes, dick, etc. Still living in the Stone Age, it seems.

  • Tawreos

The only problem I see with the picture is that there seems to be too much matching going on. The shoes seems to match with a part of the dress print, which is fine, but they also seem to be matching with the car which is one match too many in my book, but to each, their own. Maybe we should tell Jeb and Ava that it is a drag queen and that they are worried for nothing. That ought to calm them right down. =)

  • Aloha

If our motto is “the old ways are the best,” then we might have to reach back to the 1800’s when a short dress like this would be a scandal!

How old of “old ways” are we talking about here?

  • Aloha

Still living in the Stone age? Of course! “The old ways are best.”

  • Bravo Sierra

If that picture can cause you to stumble, you might be the one in those heels. 😉

  • Ava’s husband (commenter): “I am such a control freak that I search for advice from cultural enforcers to keep my wife under further control because it threatens my manhood if she makes her own decisions.”

  • heleninedinburgh

It might prompt another post about how drag queens should dress modestly.

  • heleninedinburgh

It looks a warm day, and feet die in hot cars.

  • SAO

Given that most men don’t get turned on by calves, I’m guessing it has to be the symbolism of
    1) turquoise heels and 2) feet out the window. That means what causes men to ‘stumble’ is more their own prejudices about the sexual habits of women based on their attire and actions.

Which boils down to the staple CPM issue of putting on appearances. Symbolizing through your clothes, language, and activities that you are a member of the right tribe is more important than striving to follow the basic tenants of Jesus’s message: help others.

  • FireBreathingLunatic

Quite frankly, I find this photo to be rather offensive.

The black socks coupled with the poop-brown granny-style loafers are such a major fashion faux pas!!–I have no further words to express my dismay at this sad sight.

  • FireBreathingLunatic

    CPM?

  • heleninedinburgh

I can’t count the homophobic men I’ve met (or read) who hate gay men because they ‘don’t want some poof touching me up’ or similar. I have never had the courage to say ‘don’t flatter yourself, duckie.’

  • heleninedinburgh

And then they say we’re obsessed with sex…
My best friend is a straight bloke. He’s never tried anything on with me (nor I with him), even though we’ve been alone together hundreds of times. Mind you, as a godless immoral atheist he sees me as a person rather than as the carrying-case for a vagina, so that might be it.

  • What is it with evangelical men thinking (or being conditioned to think) that every female within a fifty yard radius is a temptress?

You answered your own question right there. (There’s a reason I think that indoctrinating children in a religion is a form of abuse.)

  • I thought that someone needs to tell her that sticking her feet out of the car window is seriously dangerous.

An opportunity to see if prayer can replace a couple of legs below the knees? Or not.

  • Oooh. Leather clogs. I can almost taste them. Pant, pant!

  • How old of “old ways” are we talking about here?

    Eve had a nice style.

  • Aloha

    TOO OLD! TOO OLD!

  • skinnercitycyclist

    Bravx!

  • skinnercitycyclist

Only that one, in its most radical form, calls for women to be covered from head to toe–literally–for fear that even the sight of a woman’s bare wrists could elicit strong desires in the male–& the woman would, unconditionally, always be at fault for it. & very similarly, the husband is responsible for the wife, & the wife can only show her human figure to the husband.

That seems to be the thrust of the Christianity in the article in question as well.

  • skinnercitycyclist

Hell, go ahead and imagine she’s completely topless and get yer fap boots on.

  • skinnercitycyclist

    “one wonders…”

One did, and one said: “Ewwwwwww…”

  • skinnercitycyclist

“I bet these same men think every woman wants them (sluts!).”

And yet, they aren’t “getting any.” Go figure.

  • skinnercitycyclist

My guess is “Christian Privileged Male.”

{pouts} Yes but it’s pretty. In an earlier life I’d’ve stolen that pic and used it for an early-summer desktop background. (Credit where credit is due: those shoes are fantastic.)

Maybe we should tell Jeb and Ava that it is a drag queen

Credit where credit is due: that guy has great legs.

  • Tawreos

I actually love the color of the shoes, it is more that they match the outfit and the car that gives me a problem, but then I have always been a bit weird. =)

I used to know a drag queen with legs like that. =)

  • bekabot

I used to know a drag queen with legs like that.

    Ooooh, lucky, lucky, lucky you.

  • heleninedinburgh

By ‘completely topless’ you mean ‘not wearing a hat,’ of course?

  • IM

You can see the area between her knees and ankles. I’m sure the scandolous woman is wearing spaghetti straps./s

  • IM

For a woman to stumble over her dress, symbolizes a stumble in faith. Of course only Satan would allow this “stumble.” It is not becoming of a Godly woman.

A Godly woman only falls over her husbands feet and the freedom of others. /s

  • Petticoat Philosopher

I know, I totally want those shoes!

  • Petticoat Philosopher

I know how you feel, dear. Every time I drive past a church I imagine a future when everyone wakes up one morning, looks around, and says to themselves, “What the hell? Why did I ever fall for that nonsense?”, and all the churches are empty of worshipers from then on.

It’s a good dream, just like yours is.

  • The Jack of Sandwich

I think he was testing his wife, trying to gradually tease out how she would feel about the pornography hidden on his computer. He’d hoped this would be the easy first question where she’d just laugh and tease him for suggesting there was anything objectionable about it.
He was wrong, so terribly wrong.

  • The Jack of Sandwich

Well if you were walking down the sidewalk staring at your phone and that woman was there with her feet out the window, if you walked in to them you would probably stumble.

  • The Jack of Sandwich

Jeb would have to go take a shower, horrified by the thought that he briefly had sexual thoughts about a MAN!!!

  • The Jack of Sandwich

As shown in the movie “Death Proof”

  • persephone

They’re great legs, but I’m pretty sure they belong to a woman. The calf muscle is usually the easiest way to tell. Women’s calves attach lower on the leg.

  • persephone

The biggest issue is that the woman feels free enough to put her legs and feet on display in some FMPs. Can’t have women getting ideas about sexuality and pleasure.

  • bekabot

Women’s calves attach lower on the leg.

    Which means I made a lame joke. {frantically digs hole and hides}

  • paintinggeorgia

I want those shoes!! Oh dear, will I make men stumble? What if I don’t care what men think but only dress for myself?

  • Jennifer

I highly doubt being an atheist is the reason.

  • Jennifer

What I got a kick out of was that someone with my first name told that woman to tell her husband to grow up! I thought it WAS me, but the comment was made less than a week ago, so it couldn’t be. Lori even publishing it surprised me, but I noticed she published two comments disagreeing with that nonsense and never changed the image; I guess that freakishly prudish behavior is odd even for her. Such a gorgeous picture too, what colors! I almost wonder if that woman’s complaint was fake; what kind of pathetic man believes such nonsense?

  • heleninedinburgh

I think the subject of this article might disagree with you there.

  • heleninedinburgh

Hang on, hang on – a comment saying that the woman should TELL her husband to grow up? Not that she should gently suggest that he might possibly wish to grow up and hastily follow her suggestion with the offer of sex? And Lori published it?
    These are the last days!
