Nancy Campbell’s husband Colin Campbell of Meat For Men is off on a new theme. That of raising ‘sharp arrows’, as in a quiverfull of arrows. It’s just that he only wants them sharp in the Bible. Not in intellect or in education. He comes right out and says that liberals are too educated so it’s better to be dull in the mind and sharp in the spirit. He wants dull minds and no education and thinks that is the way to overcome his opponents. Keep telling yourself that Colin.

Colin does not come out and say that there should not be smarts, intellect or education. He just puts it on a much lower level than the spiritual. That sort of says it all about why his type of Quiverfull are struggling, fathers unable to get decent enough jobs to support massive families, kids that cannot get scholarships to higher education and a lot of homeschooled kids who end up employed by Chik Fi Lay. Education does matter much more than guys like Colin Campbell will admit.

It’s this denigration of education just shackles people into poverty for generations. It makes life much harder than it should be, dooming not just the fundamentalist parents, but most of the children into this subclass existence before they are old enough to understand they have choices.

There’s another big problem with education and the Colins of this world. Education tends to make people think, and people like the Campbells cannot afford to have their followers thinking and coming to the discovery that much of what the Campbells promote isn’t reality based.
