Racism in Quiverfull Evangelicalism of the Death of George Floyd

Racism in Quiverfull Evangelicalism of the Death of George Floyd May 28, 2020

A quick one. This afternoon this is what Lori Alexander of The Transformed Wife posted about the last few nights of riots in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Uh, Lori, there were cops there, cops armed with guns, at the rioting and looting. These protests are happening because the local law enforcement killed a man,Β  George Floyd, who was pleading for his life. They murdered a man. People are justifiably angry and protesting.

Lori Alexander is using the same language and rhetoric that the Klu Klux Khan has been using since the beginning, that lawless white men with guns must protect the virtue of white women and/or white opened property and businesses. Straight out of the Klan playbook. Comes straight out of the Klan mythology about the Southern Belle.

Notice if you will that Lori spends no mercy, love or sorrow over the sad fate of victim George Floyd. Or Freddy Gray in Baltimore, Maryland, or Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or the many other innocent men of color dying at the hands of a brutal, sadistic, and increasingly militaristic law enforcement. I guess she’s above it all.
