Trump Attacks Pope Again. Leo Responds with Call for Peace 2026-04-15T13:12:26-06:00

Years ago, my sister and brother-in-law woke in the middle of the night to strange sounds coming from their dining room.

My Vietnam veteran, career police officer brother-in-law went to check. What he found was a large, mature copperhead snake that had managed to wriggle into the house through a crack in their patio door.

I don’t know if my brother-in-law was scared. He never said. But that snake was enraged and terrified.

It struck repeatedly with killer force — at my brother-in-law, at the houseplants, at the furniture, at the air.

Copperheads are strong, muscular snakes, and this was a big one, in insane attack mode. I don’t know how he accomplished it, but my brother-in-law managed to get the snake back outside without killing it.

I’m telling you about this now because every time Trump posts another of his insane rants, launches another crude attack at the pope, insults or threatens another head of state, bombs another city, or kills another boatload of fishermen, he reminds me of that snake.

Trump is like that copperhead.

He’s gotten himself into a place where he doesn’t belong and that is far beyond either his emotional or intellectual ability to handle.

He’s out of his depth.

He’s enraged.

He’s terrified.

He’s striking out again and again at everything and everyone he sees with the only skills he has, which are performative lies, threats, bullying and slander.

He’s a dangerous animal that has no conscience or concern for human life to limit what he will do.

We the People are facing the same problem that confronted my brother-in-law: How do we get this dangerous animal out of our house?

There are no laws in Oklahoma against killing a copperhead. But like my brother-in-law, We the People don’t want to harm the snake that is striking at us. We just want to remove it before it kills us. We want to send it back where it came from.

That brings me to the main point of this post.

Trump has attacked the pope yet again with another one of his insane posts. Pope Leo responded like the Vicar of Christ that he is: He renewed his call for peace.

Meanwhile, Trump is also attacking his own allies who don’t support his attacks on the Holy Father, both here in America and abroad.

He’s like a rage-blinded copperhead, striking out at everything he sees.

Trump’s base was so outraged by the AI meme he posted depicting himself as Jesus Christ that he took it down. Then, he told one of his ridiculous lies to “explain” it.

He said he posted it because he thought it made him look like a doctor or a Red Cross worker. Then, he went to his standard attack by saying that the “fake news” had lied and said he posted a meme with himself as Jesus Christ.

Let’s understand this. Trump wasn’t just using that meme to claim that he, Trump, is god. He posted that meme to mock Our Lord. It was part of his attack on the pope.

He was saying the pope is not holy, because this Jesus Christ that the pope serves is not holy.

Trump isn’t just attacking Pope Leo. He’s attacking the God Pope Leo represents. He’s attacking the idea that anything or anyone — including Jesus Christ — is above Trump.

He has surrounded himself with clergy who are nothing but his whores. These clergy are quite frank in their blasphemous deification of Trump. They have kissed Trump’s ring and bowed down to him from his first campaign to today.

I’ve heard claims coming from people who very well know better that Trump “supports” religious freedom. That lie is so stupid Trump himself might have told it.

Trump empowers people who do his will without question. If the things they do for Trump become a liability to Trump, he gets rid of them and replaces them with someone even more servile than they were.

Trump’s idea of religious “freedom” is to put his hand on the scales of government in favor of the religious leaders and the churches that preach and teach that he, Trump, is a false god.

The day is coming — and it is not far off — when he will use government to punish, limit and even imprison religious leaders and members of churches who do not fall down and worship him. If Trump strikes out at the pope like an enraged copperhead, think what he will do to other clergy.

What Trump wants is churches somewhat like the churches they have under Communism. But he doesn’t just want churches that are under the control of the government and that slavishly preach and teach the government line. He wants churches that fall down and worship him personally.

He receives that kind of idolatry from a lot of very famous big name evangelical preachers. Those religious whores kiss up to Trump, abase themselves and twist the Gospels to suit Trump every day. There’s no sin he can commit but that they will explain it away and justify it. There’s no degree of Trump worship that they won’t engage in it.

He’s also got a handful of Catholic bishops on the string. I’m watching them, waiting to see who they will choose. So far, they’ve been religious contortionists; trying to bend a knee to Trump with one leg and take a stand for Christ with the other. Trump lets them get away with this because he’s using them to drive a wedge between a segment of the Catholic faithful and the pope.

When Trump attacks the pope’s right to preach and teach what Jesus preached and taught, he’s not just attacking a man. He’s attacking the Church.

When Trump attacks the Church’s freedom to preach and teach the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount, he’s not just attacking a world-wide religious organization. He’s attacking the Gospels’ claim on your life and mine in this world today. He’s attacking the One the Church represents.

He’s saying that Christ and His teachings should not be sovereign in your life, but that he, Trump, should be sovereign in your life.

Trump made that clear when he posted the meme of himself as Jesus Christ alongside his first attack on the Pope.

Trump is like a copperhead snake, striking out at everything that moves.

But he’s far worse than that.

I believe that he’s also under serious demonic influence. I know that’s extreme. It won’t bother me a bit if you don’t agree with me. I’ll understand if you laugh at me for saying it.

But before you toss it aside, look at what he does. Look at what he just did.

Give me some other explanation that doesn’t involve a demand that I believe a ridiculous lie like “he just thought it made him look like a doctor.” Tell me something that isn’t an inane acceptance of what is unacceptable such as “Oh, he just does things like that.”

The truth is, Trump’s message could not have been more clear. Who attacks Christ like that on the Orthodox Easter?

There’s only one name that comes to my mind.
