A new French study indicates that Hydroxychloroquine, the drug that President Trump has been pushing as a cure for COVID-19, is ineffective in treating patients with virus-caused pneumonia and requiring oxygen. The study, involved collected data from 4 French hospitals. It included 181 patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Eighty-four patients received Hydroxychloroquine within 48 hours of admission and 97 patients did not. The malaria pill that has caused so much debate does not appear to be living up to claims concerning its COVID-19 killing abilities. That is not the final word on the drug. It is the result of a small study that has not yet been peer reviewed. That said, preliminary results from a Chinese study, which was a randomized, double-blind study, do not show that Hydroxychloroquine helped infected patients get rid of the virus.
