The Voice of Public Theology
Ted Peters

Shameless Republicans and spineless Democrats have abandoned America to the monster of fascism, a monster with an insatiable appetite for devouring what has long been precious to us: a national consensus on justice, fairness, dignity, equality, and kindness. The fascist monster is normalizing governmental corruption, cruelty to immigrants, retribution against critics, police intimidation, destruction of science, and callousness to human suffering while building a new prison system for yet-to-be-decided enemies of the state.
Protestors point jittery fingers at the monster and broadcast its dangers. Yet we know that merely slaying the monster alone would not in itself achieve what we yearn for, namely, a renewed America committed to the common good and to the flourishing of every person. This perilous moment calls for an alternative, a vision of a renewed America that opens the gate and paves the road toward the fulfillment of our most noble aspirations.
On the website, TedsTimelyTake, as well as this Patheos column, along with the Substack “Voice of Public Theology” column, I plan to offer both my own thoughts and those of persons whom I believe can provide the hammer and nails to construct the guiding vision of a renewed America.
