Though I haven’t decided on a candidate to support in 2016, I know that I’m not going to support Hillary Clinton. Since it’s so early in the game, I think everyone should be able to see who’s running and make an educated decision. And I’m happy that the field this time seems full of great options!
I guess you saw how Trump was uninvited to a conservative gathering by RedState’s Erick Erickson, who said “there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross. Decency is one of those lines.”
My fellow SixSeeds Patheos blogger Bristol Palin wrote about this scandal on her blog, pointing out three reasons why Mr. Erickson shouldn’t put himself up as the arbiter of “decency:”
1. Erickson’s RedState once used a demeaning fake photo (wearing a revealing shirt with Santa Claus) of [Sarah Palin] for an attack article on her. Erickson refused to take it down even after he was made aware that it was photoshopped.
2. He once called Supreme Court justice David Souter “the only goat fucking child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court.”
3. And there’s this:
I hate it how Erickson has decided to make a name for himself by attacking Donald Trump. It seems like he just wants to make headlines, to raise his own profile, and to become the “voice of reason” when it comes to the 2016 political campaign.
What was his next move?
That brings me to a fourth reason:
He compared Donald Trump fans to Planned Parenthood supporters:
“At this point there is not a lot of difference between Planned Parenthood supporters who think the tapes were edited and Donald Trump supporters who think he did not say what he said on live television.”
Of course, this is an evil and — well — indecent comparison.
Erick Erickson needs to step down from his “decency police” role and let the American people decide who they want to support for President.
