The news today is that DC Comics’ Green Lantern superhero is being ‘re-booted’ as a homosexual. This follows last year’s Archie comic featuring a homosexual union. Using the comics as propaganda is nothing new. In fact, there are very few of the funnies that are funny anymore–they’re all uploaded with some sort of left wing, feminist, homosex propaganda sermon. It’s easy to stomp and huff and puff and blow the house down, but what good does it do? I, for... Read more

You  may remember that episode in Peter Pan when Tinkerbell is about to perish and all the children in the audience are asked to clap their hands if they believe in fairies. Their clapping makes Tinkerbell come back to life. Tinkerbell seems to have invaded the mindset of modern man. That is to say, too many people think that if you believe something it makes it so, and if you do not believe something that makes it so. How often... Read more

Snake handling is still going on in the United States. This article reports the recent death of a pastor who was bitten by a timber rattlesnake. Apparently the pastor witnessed his own father’s death after a rattlesnake bite, but continued with the practice. I commented on the theological implications of snake handling a few days ago here. The gist of the article is that snake handlers are only doing what all Protestants do–whether they are liberal and urbane sherry sipping... Read more

A year after Rev Harold Camping’s followers messed up on doomsday and the rapture didn’t happen Patrick Archbold links to a sympathetic article on the followers who were “left behind” when Jesus didn’t turn up in glory. They didn’t experience the rapture, but they did experience a rupture–in their belief system. Matt notices that this article observes that “most mainstream Christians” believe in the rapture, and he goes on to point out that this just ain’t so. Read his post here.... Read more

The other day I was visiting with a Protestant minister who is about to leave his ministry and join the Catholic Church. He said he ended up in this situation because he had a seminary professor who kept challenging his students to “Think it through.” He tried to think through his opposition to Catholicism because he had a parishioner who was asking troublesome questions in his own journey to the Catholic Church and as the pastor tried to think things... Read more

I have been asked by a reader of the blog to explain where the idea of the infallible church comes from. Where is it in Scripture? I’m glad for the opportunity. The infallibility of the Catholic Church is based on the infallibility of Christ. The Catechism says that Christ “grants a measure of his infallibility to his Church.” This is seen in the New Testament very clearly. First of all we see time and again throughout the gospels that Jesus... Read more

May Magnificat by G.M.Hopkins MAY is Mary’s month, and I Muse at that and wonder why: Her feasts follow reason, Dated due to season— Candlemas, Lady Day; But the Lady Month, May, Why fasten that upon her, With a feasting in her honour? Is it only its being brighter Than the most are must delight her? Is it opportunest And flowers finds soonest? Ask of her, the mighty mother: Her reply puts this other Question: What is Spring?— Growth in... Read more

What does abortion have to do with witchcraft and black magic? Everything. Today human fetuses are roasted, dried, crushed and turned into pills which supposedly boost male virility. This story isn’t really new. It was reported a few years ago for the first time and the rumor confirmed by DNA tests. This form of cannibalism is still going on. Read about it here. Even more disgusting– an ancient Chinese pagan superstition is that roasted and dried baby boys covered in... Read more
