Roving Medievalist thinks St John Sarkander resembles me. Nice! Now, if only I resembled him! St John Sarkander was a sixteenth century priest who was tortured by Protestants because he would not break the seal of the confessional. Lest people imagine that Catholics had a monopoly on torture in those days, John endured the rack on 13, 17 and 18 February. On each of the latter days the torture lasted for two and three hours, lighted candles and feathers soaked... Read more

The whole… …Oh, no we’re not, because this Cardinal said so even if that Pope said not, but it’s not really schism because it’s not formal schism and it can’t be because the Pope didn’t say so with the proper form of words, and also it may have been a schismatic act, but I’m not schismatic if I go to a schismatic Mass because it is a valid mass and lots of other masses aren’t licit anyway because of the... Read more

I’ve had a very useful clarification from a reader in my combox. I would like all readers to know that Bishop Williamson and the other members of Society of St Pius X are not schismatic. They have been consecrated as bishops without permission from the Pope, and their consecration went on in direct defiance of the Pope’s directives. They continue to promote their own priests and parishes separate to the recognized hierarchy of the Catholic Church, but I must repeat... Read more

A reader comments on my SSPX spoof film reviews: Most of my mom’s family is in the SSPX and they all believe this stuff. I mean they think that 99% of all disney movies are bad. They don’t like Bambi because it is anti-hunter, Dumbo because he is guided by a male character into fame and his mother does not help him at all, Robin Hood because he steals and loves Maid Marian and there is never a wedding, etc…... Read more

More from the newly unearthed Richard Williamson film review archives: My dear people, I need to speak to you today about a painful topic. I want to warn you and your children about the dangers of the insidious television program and film series ‘Lassie’. To many people this appears to be nothing but a sweet and harmless story about a boy and his dog. They couldn’t be more wrong! This is practically pornographic in every way. The word ‘lassie’ is... Read more

Inside Catholic asked prominent Catholics to respond to the recent report that the largest religious group in the USA are lapsed Catholics. Here are our thoughts. In my own response I mentioned the desperate need to be ‘relevant’ felt by some Catholics. However, I think there is also another, more simple answer to why people left the Church. Once we have all picked over the reasons and analyzed ourselves to death, maybe we should come back to some simple verities.... Read more

A cache of previously unpublished reviews by the famous film critic (and would be Catholic bishop) Dickie Williamson has recently come to light. Here’s his take on that notorious film Mary Poppins. Mary Poppins is a blasphemous mockery of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Not only does she have the same name as the Blessed Virgin, but the Hollywood Jewish media men mock her with the silly name ‘Poppins.’ ‘Pop in’ is exactly what she does. In a stunning and disgusting... Read more

Damian Thompson posts traditionalist schismatic Bishop Richard Williamson’s views on The Sound of Music. Apparently the old warhorse musical is practically pornographic. Read it and see if this SSPX bishop doesn’t make Bob Jones University look downright liberal. Read more
