How To Cast Emoji Spells: Innovative Magic For The Masses

A string of emojis may not look like much to you.  However, for many (mostly younger) witches, emoji spells are their preferred method of magic.

The use of emojis as spells or magic makes sense if you think about it.  Images and symbols move our brains away from the linear, left-brain mode of operation.  These symbols let our mindsets drift into the dreamy, non-verbal right brain and the subconscious.

It’s no secret that working with the subconscious can influence your life.  It’s the basis of many forms of magic and meditation.

Also, you can communicate all kinds of messages with various emojis.  A peach can represent many things, including a fruit, a butt, a sensual mood, a juicy desire, or a “peachy” feeling.  It all depends on what other emojis are used near to it.

So when I saw the recent attacks on emoji spells on witchblr, I shook my head.  Why are witches are trolling other witches?  Because they don’t understand the magic?  Or worse, they believe others’ magic is beneath theirs?  Disparaging comments are becoming more common, such as,

“Ur ruining witch craft bc emoji spells u dum fluffbunny.”

Anyone who hates other witches this much for practicing a different kind of witchcraft is putting themselves on a super high pedestal.  This kind of elitist thinking – that other people are wrong, and they’re definitely right – is divisive and condescending.  They need to get off their high magic horse.

My favorite response to these insults about emoji spells is from my witchblr friend lofijazz.

I agree.  Witches wouldn’t use emoji spells if they didn’t work.  Think about it this way.  Did ancient witches, who carved symbols in the dirt and painted things in caves, hate on people who used paper to write things down?  When paper became more accessible for personal use and magical works, did the “dirt witches” hate the “paper witches?”  In our modern age, are “paper witches” hating on “screen witches?”

These questions are somewhat in farce, but you can see how ridiculous it is to hate someone just for using a more advanced technology like paper or a screen.  Nowadays, we all use screens.  In fact, you’re reading about witchcraft and magic on a screen, so using emoji spells isn’t a far leap.  Give it a try!  You might be surprised by how well they work.

How to Cast an Emoji Spell

1. Take a Few Deep Breaths and Enter a Meditative State

Feel whatever’s going on in your body.  Let your mind chatter become silent and listen to your heart’s desire.

2. Think of Your Intention and a Goal

If you can verbalize this, all the better. Think about what you can do and what you want to see happen in the world.

3. Carefully Select Emojis That Represent Your Will

Use symbolisms and what they mean to you.  My advice is to use a minimum of 5 characters, but don’t use more than two lines. Use your intuition and choose emojis that feel right.

Repeat any emojis that are important.  You may want to bracket them with one emoji such as the full moon, a crystal ball, or the three little stars.

Rearrange them until they seem artful, and they flow in the direction you wish to move.  This is an art form much like crafting a sigil.  When it feels right, you’ll know it.

4. Send Your Emoji Spells Out into the World

You can share it on witchblr, send it to yourself, or send it to a few trusted friends.  I’ve found by sharing the spell and the meaning, it connects me to that person and the intention and goal behind the spell even more.

In modern times, when people don’t have a literal coven, sharing magic this way creates a flexible coven and keeps friendships spiritual and personal.

5. Recast and Recharge

After casting the emoji spell, send it out again multiple times to recast and recharge it.

If you receive an emoji spell, you can ask what it’s about or send supportive emojis back to show you are wishing them success.  You can also resend it, as your own emoji spell.
