Frank Pavone has removed the Facebook video that got everyone talking last week. It seems this may be a belated response to his ordinary’s  reaction, although in another now-deleted video Pavone suggested he was entirely unwilling to be corrected in this matter by his bishop. You can read all the details from Keith Michael Estrada over at Proper Nomenclature – the whole business is a confusing morass, but Keith has done a good job of parsing what happened, what was said and what might have since been hidden. He writes:

“We don’t know if the video were removed by Father Pavone or by Facebook, or if it is some glitch. If it was Father Pavone, why did he remove the Facebook one and not the second one, still on Youtube – and why remove the apology? If Facebook removed, thank God – though this seems less likely as Father Pavone’s apology would violate Facebook’s community standards even less than his original offense.

Did Father Frank remove it because he was instructed to do so? Would it have been wise for Father Frank to remove the second video, as well? Would it have been deceitful not to delete the Youtube video if he were asked to delete the Facebook one, if his superior did not specify deleting both?

More: As of 00:04 pacific time on 13 November, Father Pavone still has a screen shot of his Facebook Live video from 6 November (along with a link) posted onto his Twitter account as a tweet, and on the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts of Priests for Life – all can be found here, herehere,  and here, respectively (graphic/offensive image). If the image/link were posted on Father Frank Pavone’s Instagram account, it is no longer there.

As we have learned, some have taken their concerns to Bishop Zurek of Amarillo, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. If further investigation is necessary, the video may be useful for review. (If you are looking, or have access to the video in question, please contact us.)

Some who have been following the development of Father Pavone’s exploitation and desecration in honor of Trump have shared with us that the video was most likely removed the night of 11 November. Maybe Father Frank Pavone deleted the video after noticing – why it took so long, we don’t know – that some have suggested the possibility of Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life storing, preserving the bodies of children in formaldehyde to perpetually commodify for their political propaganda, and it seems the video may have been removed after this. As we’ve mentioned, we have not heard back from Priests for Life on our request for comment tied to this particular concern.

What about the Youtube video, Father? Whether or not you removed your Facebook video of “Father Frank, Live!”, the episode from 6 November 2016, where you exploit a child’s body, offend the child’s dignity, and desecrate an altar, won’t you consider removing the Youtube video, as well? If you do, will you apologize and make a statement making us aware that you removed it – as well as secure copies of it for the authorities who might need to review it?

While we are on the topic of apologies, why did you remove your half-apology video? Are you in the process of writing the script to a new apology video that is without qualifications?

This may be a victory or it may be an act of deceit – regardless, there was one victory today on this offense, and that was the statement made by the president of Priests for Life in Canada rebuking Father Pavone’s actions.”

You can rely on Keith for continued reported on any new developments. We at Steel Magnificat will do our part to keep you in the loop as well.

In the meanwhile we would like to express our gratitude to Bishop Jurek and Priests for Life Canada for what they have done so far to set the record straight about what is and is not pro-life and what does and does not represent the Catholic faith. We can only hope and pray that any further developments will help to console those inside and outside the faith who may have been scandalized by Pavone’s mad act.
