A Quick Request for Turkey Time

A Quick Request for Turkey Time November 21, 2019

Hi guys,

I’ve got a post worth reading that I’m working on in another tab, and I’m embarrassed to do this more than once a month again. But I just need to take a moment to awkwardly pass the hat and remind everyone that Steel Magnificat, and my family, run almost entirely on tips.

I get very small paycheck from Patheos for clicks, and everything else I have to live on I get from gratuities from satisfied readers. Some people put a few dollars in the tip jar as they drop in, some put significantly more, and some people sign up through Paypal to tip once a month. The button that Patheos installed for tips says “Donate” but they’re not charitable donations, they’re just gratuities like tipping your Uber driver. I pay taxes on them, or would if I made enough to owe tax. Think of Steel Magnificat as a magazine subscription where you pay what you think I’m worth and get to keep reading even if you can’t pay.

We’re running into the beginning of the holiday season this month with a high water bill again; all I can figure is apparently Steubenville charges for the sludge these days. I was hoping to go out and get Thanksgiving on my next shopping trip. And I’m still getting over my terrible flare-up from the beginning of the month, but very slowly because we can’t afford some of the more esoteric remedies my internist okayed that I use to keep my fibromyalgia at bay but that aren’t covered by Medicaid. And next thing we know it will be Christmas.

Obviously, everybody has a lot of expenses starting in late November. But I do ask humbly once again that if you like what you read, patronize me with a tip now and then. And if you can’t afford to tip, I understand, keep reading and sharing and somebody else will. I’m very grateful for all of my readers who keep my family afloat.

To leave a tip, just click on the yellow button on the donate page and paypal will walk you through the rest.

And now I’ll go back to writing posts worth reading!
