What Keeps Me Going

As I settle into this new world of blogging, I thought it might be fun to have a weekly feature focusing on inspiration.

What better day to begin than Good Friday!

When life is tough — or even when it’s not — I’ve found comfort in the Bible. My favorite parts change from month to month, week to week, or even day to day.  Honestly, I should read it more than I do, because I’ve also found that life is better when I hang on to its promises and truth.

Here’s the verse that’s speaking to me right now, Proverbs 2:7:

“He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.”

“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:8-11 :-)

    Good Morning, Bristol :)
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your idea of a weekly focus on “inspiration” and what better way than to find it through our Lord’s “Love Letter” to us…….HIS WORD :) PROVERBS 2:7 is awesome as are the others shared by Martha and Andrew thus far. Psalm 91 and Joshua 1:9 are two very special scriptures to me. As a single mom, they have been a never ending source of comfort and strength. Since Psalm 91 is lengthy, I would like to share the first 2 verses, which say it all…….”He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare of the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I am trusting in Him.”…….Psalm 91:1-2. “Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the LORD thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest……Joshua 1:9
I’d also like to share that through the years, carrying these and so many other scriptures in my heart, I have witnessed the LORD fulfill each and every promise they carry, over and over again. Whenever, I reflect on how lovingly He has watched over and taken such good care of my precious son and I throughout the years, it never fails to bring tears of love and gratitude to my eyes. If only the world could see and comprehend how empty life really is without HIM…….

The question was asked: “Why would God command Abraham to kill his son”? I have asked the same question. Another great question to ask this Easter is: “Why would God send his only Son to be horribly killed?”
Here is the story of a man who had a terrible choice: to save his son from being killed,or to see his son killed while saving dozens of innocent people.
Its the story of John Griffith, the bridge keeper, as presented on Youtube.

I have a tattoo on my wrist that says Matthew 6:14-15. “Forgive those of their tresspasses so that God may forgive you of your own”. I got pregnant at sixteen and my daughter’s biological father was only there a few weeks. He and I went our seperate ways and I haven’t seen him since. I went on to Marry when my daughter was just over two years old only to get divorced shy of 4 years later and carried around alot of anger towards these two guys The first one for leaving, the second one for knowing what leaving did to me before and then doing the same only the bad part was for him to leave while I was 7 months pregnant with daughter number two. I got the tattoo to remind me that eventhough they have wronged me and my daughters, that I to do wrong in God’s eyes and need his forgivness. Needless to say, my husband that I divorced and I got remarried 10 months after the divorce and have been together now married the second time around for 4 years, (7 years total). My insperation has been that although people can kick me down, I have two little girls that watch my every move and for them I have to keep going. My inspiration is to forgive, and move forward.

    John 8:12
[ Jesus, the Light of the World ] Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Matthew 28:6 ‘He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.’ Because of the empty tomb, we have hope!!

What I love most is when, I am in need, I open my Bible and there it is….Just the verse I need. I do not have to look. God leads my hand where it needs to go.
