Apparently Mrs. Pelosi tripped over some clunky, in the way talking points.

I know I’m dating myself, but all I can think of is: It’s a floor wax, and a dessert topping!

    To keep the peace! Those who don’t like “IT” to be called “Tax” should just call “IT” a “Penalty” and those who don’t like the world “Penalty” then maybe they could call “IT” a Tax? :)

    I hear ya! Kind of like calling an unborn child a fetus! Right? :(

    Ah, yes, New Shimmer! I used to refer to that skit when teaching participles in Latin (It’s a verb! It’s an adjective! It’s a verb AND and adjective!) until it got to the point where the kids no longer knew what I was talking about, and it took me longer to set up the gag than just to teach about participles. Alas.

    It really doesn’t make any difference how one terms “forced payments” to the government; they are still forced and still cost a person money. The “Name That Payment” game played by the Obama Administration sounds very much like a dystopian government from a George Orwell novel.

    If memory serves me correctly, this is certainly not the first time Obama and his minions have attempted to spin definitions. Of course, there has been great precedent to follow from previous Democratic presidents. Remember, “It depends on the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.”

    We now have our very own Nomenklatura. Statist overlords. Perfectly willing to lie up and down in the cause of expanding government, and constricting freedom. I guess this is what everyone died for at Concord, Gettysburg, Normandy, Iwo Jima, Inchon, Saigon, Iraq and Afghanistan.

    The IRS is now hiring 1400 more people–perhaps even more–to oversee the “peneltytax”and make decisions about what you owe (or just breathing). I understand this bill also gives them even broader powers to look into your total household income in order to make these decisions.
    In an interview my Congressman, who is also a doctor, point out all of the new taxes contained within this bill that most of us are not aware of yet. He said he had just talked to a business owner yesterday who said that he is no longer hiring because of this bill. He has about 70 employees now, but will begin to lower that to under fifty. As we know -many doctors will be retiring-and many students who were going to become doctors are going into something else because medical school is so expensive and the outlook so bleak.
    Of course, as we know, the bill is still being written.

    What was the Boston Tea Party all about anyway? It took a while –but King George is back thanks to the Democrat Party and of all things–the Supreme Court. Unfortunately it’s not just about tea this time.

    And while everyone argues over tax vs penalty, no one is dealing with the crisis or talking about what to do about the “free riders”. The GOP is content to just kick the can down the road…, again.

    At the med ctr at which I work I heard 2 docs in the cafeteria this a.m. discussing the new “healthcare”. It really woke me up.

    Well, we need to fix the immoral and illegal HHS mandate. However, I’d rather be taxed for health insurance than to fund a war. As a good Republican president once said:
