Our Christmas cactus is out already, reminding us that Christ came to US to bring us peace. If you feel that the next few weeks till the holiday season looks insurmountable and overwhelming may Christ come to you again TODAY and give you joy.  Jesus calls to us today just as he did 2000 years ago.

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30)

John Piper explains this verse as follows: “The demand that we come to him is therefore like the demand of a father to his child in a burning window, “Jump to me!”  READ MORE

In a previous article on this subject that complements today’s I wrote:

““Come to me!” Jesus cries out whilst the world lures us to stay earthbound. “I will satisfy your deepest longing” Jesus urges, whilst the passing pleasures of the world anaesthetise us to our deepest need to truly know and be known. Every sin is driven by a longing that has now been twisted, but which was placed within us to drive us to the Creator of our souls.”  READ MORE

Some of you are experiencing turbulent times, perhaps you are just doing too much and feel exhausted.  This can be magnified hugely by chronic sickness when the tiredness can become crushing and is then called fatigue. Perhaps you are caring for everyone else, and have had enough, you just wish someone would have compassion on you.  In some cases the US election has disturbed you. Maybe the candidate you wanted to win has lost and you fear for the consequences.  We must remember Jesus is King.

For others it is shame or guilt that has you feeling down.  Or maybe you are going through a divorce right now, or living with lifelong consequences of a relationship breakdown that happened years ago. Many of you may be carrying the guilt of decisions you took years ago, perhaps that abortion you felt you had no choice over.

I have good news for you: Jesus really is gentle and lowly of heart and he has much more time for people who recognize they need him than those who think they have it all together.

Jesus weeps over your pain, just like he did over his friends Mary and Martha.

Jesus is the friend of sinners not those who think they are very religious.  We see this in the story of The Pharisee and the Prostitute. Jesus offers forgiveness to those who recognise they need it, and only judgement to those who think they are better than everyone else.

Is your life messy? Then you qualify for Jesus healing power and love.  May you know Him close today and every day.

Jesus our Lord . . . was delivered up for our trespasses
and raised for our justification.

ROMANS 4:24–25

Maybe right now you need to STOP whatever you are doing, BE STILL, and KNOW that JESUS is LORD.

About Adrian Warnock
The resurrection of Jesus changes everything. Just not all at once. Healing takes time. Compassion and patience carry us over a lifetime of change.
These are the themes I explore in my books and in the articles I have written for Patheos since 2003.

My writing draws on my scientific training as a doctor and psychiatrist, my work in the UK's National Health Service and the pharmaceutical industry, alongside more than twenty-five years as a member of a growing church where I served on the leadership team offering pastoral care.

My perspective has also been shaped by chronic illness since 2017, when I developed life-threatening pneumonia that caused lasting damage to my body, triggered several further conditions, and uncovered a diagnosis of blood cancer. This was successfully treated, although doctors expect it to return in the future. Out of these experiences I founded Blood Cancer Uncensored, an online patient-led support community.

I am the author of the Transformed by Jesus: Spiritual Renewal series of books, which ask:

→ Is the Easter story true, and what does it mean?

Raised With Christ: How the Resurrection Changes Everything

→ Why is change so difficult? What causes the resistance?

The Traitor Within: Understanding and Healing Our Deceitful Hearts

→ How does transformation happen over time?

Amazing Grace: How Faith Grows in the Human Heart

→ What are the first steps on a journey of faith?

Hope Reborn: How to Become a Christian and Live for Jesus

These books bring together medical, psychological, social, and faith-based insights, advocating for a biopsychosocial–spiritual model of wellbeing. My qualifications and training reflect this integrated background:

→ British MB BS medical degree (equivalent to an MD in the USA)

→ Postgraduate qualifications in Psychiatry (MRCPsych) and Pharmaceutical Medicine (MFFM, DipPharmMed)

→ Theological training courses run by Newfrontiers
