There’s a lot of excitement about ChatGPT at the moment in lots of fields. I thought I would see how this artificial intelligence social communication generator would cope as a preacher. And I used an AI image generator to make the attached picture. So here is what I asked the interface: “Write me a sermon in the style of a Pentecostal preacher on the subject of the Holy Spirit”  ChatGPT’s sermon Praise the Lord! Can I get an Amen from... Read more

When Harry Met Sally is clearly not a film that’s based on Scripture, and does not teach a correct view of relationships between men and women. However, Billy Graham’s rule, which stipulates that men and women should not  meet alone with each other are unless they are married is more consistent with that movie than with the Bible.  It leads to segregation between men and women, and has had major negative repercussions for many women; especially in the workplace and... Read more

For more years than I care to remember I’ve lived near this statue of Winston Churchill in two difffernt homes. I’ve always has a lot of respect for the man who led us safely through WW2, despite his many failings and some terrible other things he did   Once he towered over the world stage  Now all that’s left is some aging statuses.  Our lives, even the greatest, are so fleeting.  Amazing to think our late queen had him as... Read more

Major study reveals the public wants more faith media coverage but newsrooms are discouraged from covering religion. It is time for religious bloggers and mainstream media to collaborate. As a faith blogger since 2003 I have always had a mixed view of the mainstream media.  Of course I have a lot of respect for journalists and the work they do in covering news. But often a lack of passion or expertise comes across and for many issues a good citizen... Read more

I never met the Queen. But I have seen countless clips of those who did.  And so in my tribute for her I highlighted what so many said of her which was that she was humble and always focussed on the person in front of her.  She was committed to the importance of those small one to one meetings with ordinary people and great heads of state alike.  One person put it this way “I particularly remember being struck by... Read more

Queen Elizabeth will be remembered as the UK’s  longest serving and probably greatest ever monarch A rainbow appeared over Windsor castle today, Queen Elizabeth’s favourite home. A double rainbow also appeared over Buckingham Palace. It seems appropriate somehow. Perhaps the heavens themselves wanted to mark the passing of this amazing woman. Her public announcements showed she had a genuine faith in Jesus. As a British Christian I am more sad today than I thought I would be over the death... Read more

What really matters is not the big stuff, but the little things. As we heard yesterday a tiny acorn holds all the programming needed to produce a giant tree. In response to that post which explained the concept of Dream Small, someone shared this video of a song that talks about the simple moments that change lives. Here are some quotes from the lyrics: “These simple moments change the world Dream small Don’t buy the lie you’ve got to do... Read more

People are often encouraged to “dream big dreams”, but whilst there is a place for that, sometimes a huge dream actually gets in the way of the small steps you need to start on a journey.  This applies to your career, a business you might want to start, a relationship, and even to a church or ministry you may be trying to establish. And though your beginning was small, your latter days will be very great. (Job 8:7, ESV) A tiny... Read more

The phrase “use me God” or “he or she is being used by God” has grated with me for some time now. The desire to be used by God often comes from a noble place. A revelation of being saved by grace comes and changes your life. You realise that nothing else matters as much as the love you now know from the creator of the universe who came and lived the perfect life for you, died for you, rose... Read more

Re Today I listened to Terry Virgo preaching at Emmanuel Church in Brighton on grace online.  It stirred my heart to hear this message once again. The grace message is a message that I have to keep coming back to in order to live in the good of the wonderful thing that Jesus has done for us. If there is one thing that grace gives us it is HOPE, and a hope that is not dependent on circumstances. Terry’s Message... Read more
