About a year and a half ago, I helped organize the drafters of A Pagan Community Statement on the Environment.  A common refrain from its few critics was that words are not enough.

And they are right — the statement, which has now collected over 9,000 signatures was intended, not a substitute for action, but as a prompt to action.  The ecopagan.com website, which hosts the Statement, includes over 50 suggestions for taking action.

I want to collect the stories of a half dozen to a dozen Pagans who are transforming the words of the Pagan environment statement into actions and feature them on the ecopagan.com website.

Here’s the rules:

  1. You can’t nominate yourself.
  2. You have to get the person’s permission.
  3. Give details about how the person is putting the Pagan environmental statement into action.

Use this list of ideas for taking action to brainstorm about some people you know who are doing some of these things.

If you would like to have your your friend or acquaintance featured on the ecopagan.com website, tell us in the comments a little about them and what they are doing to live the challenge posed by the Statement to:

  • to use our abilities and resources to promote policies and practices that foster the changes that our world so urgently needs
  • to educate members of our community to foster intelligent and focused sustainable living
  • to help the world recognize that everyone, whether Pagan or not, is part of our precious Earth
  • to promote the current and future health of our entire Earth, including the water, air, land, and the web of life.
