Rabbi Daniel Lapin has been going on right wing radio shows for the last couple years and claiming that the idea of retirement is against God’s will because it isn’t mentioned in the Bible. David Barton has now joined him in this ridiculous cliche and, as usual, telling lies along the way.
Worldnetdaily owner Joseph Farah lives in some sort of alternate bizzaro world, an Orwellian place where up is down, black is white and forcing school children to recite government-composed prayers is an important part of “America’s Christian heritage of liberty.”
Ah, the hysteria is really hitting a fever pitch now. David Barton welcomed Tim Brooks, a pastor from Arkansas, on his Wallbuilders radio show and Brooks declared that gay people won’t stop until they can force Christians to have sex with them, just like that fictitious story from the Bible.
Warren Throckmorton, who has done some great work exposing the torrent of lies told by David Barton, wonders in a recent post why Barton continues to be booked to speak and revered by so many Christian groups. He also wonders why those groups ignore the criticisms of so many Christian academics who have proven those lies. I fear he is being a bit naive in his analysis of the situation.
Last week, Glenn Beck bleated on incessantly about how he was going to make a huge announcement this week and telling his followers, “I believe my entire life has led to this point.” Like his many previous announcements of this type, it turned out to be self-aggrandizing bullshit. Guess what? He’s going to be the Martin Luther King of those who oppose gay marriage.
Glenn Beck, ever the melodramatist, is holding a conference this week called “Future Conference: What You Thought Was Coming … Is Here Now.” It’s being hosted by far-right megapreacher Jim Garlow at his church. And — cue the dramatic music — they’ve got thousands of pastors prepared to die over…well, something.
David Lane, the powerful Christian right presidential kingmaker, is once again doing his best impersonation of David Barton, spreading lies about American history to “prove” that Christianity was once “the official religion of America” until that damn Supreme Court ruled otherwise.
Bill Federer, the poor man’s David Barton who now writes a column for the Worldnetdaily, went on an American Family Radio talk show this week and provided a truly dizzying argument for why protecting gay rights leads inevitably to a Muslim takeover of America.

Speaking at a conference in the Ukraine, he claimed that Locke quoted the Bible specifically about civil government 1500 times in his two treatises on government:

Last year, the Worldnetdaily began publishing columns by Bill Federer, who is kind of a poor man’s David Barton. He attempts to show that America really, truly was supposed to be a Christian nation, using the same kind of dishonest techniques that Barton uses. But his latest column, where he “recounts French influence on America’s development,” is just plain irrelevant.
There are few things more important to the Christian right than academic credentials. That’s why so many creationists, like Kent Hovind, call themselves “Dr” by getting worthless PhDs from diploma mills. And it’s why David Barton made such a huge deal over the fact that two people with PhDs have written a book agreeing with him about Jefferson:
