The Edge of Elfland
Hudson, New Hampshire
Dear Readers,
Today is my one year anniversary with Patheos Catholic. I can’t believe the ways writing for Patheos have honestly changed my life. Moving Letters from the Edge of Elfland here have allowed me to interact with new and wonderful people and has caused me to write more and more consistently (at least until I started my new job a few weeks ago). Without Patheos Catholic, I would not be getting ready to fly to Notre Dame to speak at the Trying to Say “God” conference being put on by the wonderful people at Sick Pilgrim! This alone is reason enough to be thankful for Patheos Catholic. What’s more, it allowed me finally become Catholic back at the Easter Vigil. So, to celebrate, I thought I’d share my top 10 letters from the last year.
10. “President … Trump: My Fears, My Hopes, and a Call to Live the Gospel“
9. “Peter Kreeft and Atheists: A Response to Hemant Mehta“
8. “Is Patheos Catholic Liberal?“
7. “The Salvation of Eustace: The Reason Why the Children Go to Narnia“
5. “Arthur’s Tintagel Rediscovered: Archaeological Evidence of an Ancient British Palace“
4. “A (Not so Brief) Review of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child“
3. “Am I Racist? A Primer on Race, Racism, and White Privilege for My Fellow “White” Americans“
2. “Ricky Gervais Debates the Existence of God with Stephen Colbert, Badly“
1. “Going for a Swim“
Bonus:
The letter that got me noticed by Patheos Catholic editor, Sam Rocha “Arthuriana: Arthur, Inklings, and the Attraction of Logres“
My introductory post: “Introducing Letters from the Edge of Elfland“
My first “real” letter: “Our Lady of Elfland, Our Lady of Faërie“
Thank you all for a wonderful year!
Sincerely,
David
