The box office hasn’t been kind to The Young Messiah. The film had a much smaller opening than expected last week, and it looks like the second week will be much worse. Nevertheless, the job of promoting the film continues, and so the film’s official YouTube channel has posted a new “TV documentary” about the movie.
Instead of looking at the making of the film, this video examines the meaning of the film, and how its fictitious depiction of Jesus ties in to the Jesus of the gospels.
In addition to the filmmakers — writer-director Cyrus Nowrasteh, co-writer Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh and producers Chris Columbus, William V. Andrew and Tracy K. Price — the documentary includes soundbites from various Christians who have endorsed the film, including Christine Caine, Kenneth Ulmer, Galen Carey, Johnny Hunt, Ted Baehr, Sam Rodriguez, Devita Parnell, Sr Rose Pacatte, Fr Leon Hutton, Paul Mulligan, Gabriel Salguero, Karen Covell and Christian & Amy Piatt.
