“God of Our Many Understandings”

“God of Our Many Understandings”

We posted about how Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson has promised not to pray a Christian prayer at the inauguration event where he will give the invocation. So to what deity is he going to pray? He is thinking now that he might address his prayer to the “God of our many understandings.”

At least we have now named and identified the postmodernist god. Before, postmodernists prized diversity, which at least affirmed all the distinct religions. Now, even those WITHIN a religion are expected to affirm a multi-headed deity.

I suspect this deity will soon become the only one whom this culture will allow to be worshiped and acknowledged. “The God of Abraham and Isaac,” “the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” “The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,” will be proscribed. “The God of Our Many Understandings” will be hailed as the only god.
