Republicans are always claiming that their leadership in Congress and the Executive branch, thus a Republican president, are best for the U.S. economy. And I see this often in comments on my blog. But that’s not true according to an op-ed piece in The New York Times today entitled, “The Economy Does Much Better Under Democrats. Why?” The subtitle explains, “G.D.P., jobs and other indicators have all risen more slowly under Republicans for nearly the past century.” A supplied chart... Read more

The U.S. Senate will begin its trial of former President Donald Trump in a few days, on February 8th. The trial likely will last no more than a week. It remains to be seen whether or not the Senate will decide that witnesses may be called and questioned. The entire event will be televised and thus be watched by many Americans, probably more than during Trump’s first impeachment because this accusation is way more serious. The total of 100 senators–evenly... Read more

Co-leader Patrick Reed shot 68 today at Torrey Pines Golf Course to win the Farmers Insurance Open by five strokes over five players who were tied for second. Reed easily marched to victory because no one really mustered a charge against him. It was Reed’s ninth PGA Tour win in a rather feisty career marked by alleged rules infractions in which he was not penalized, one of them occurring yesterday. But the tough-minded red-shirt wearer on Sunday has the knack... Read more

Patrick Reed is a PGA Tour player, even a Masters champion, who has a reputation for playing fast and loose with the rules of golf. Yesterday, he added to that reputation. Today, going into the last round of the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course near San Diego, California, Patrick Reed is tied for the lead with Carlos Ortiz at 10-under par. That is two strokes ahead of the next players who are tied at 8-under... Read more

It has been over two years since former President Donald Trump foolishly cozied up to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ended the U.S. relationship with the Palestinian Authority, thus throwing away the important U.S. status, which had existed for over five decades, as the sole peace broker in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Plus, the Trump administration had ended the annual $200 million U.S. foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority for its governance of Palestinians in the West Bank. It also... Read more

NO! I won’t need to. I’ll do it if I feel the need, which likely will be rare. Trump’s presidency was a very unusual four years in our nation’s history. My blog is on the Progressive Christian Channel at patheos.com. So, that indicates I blog mostly about spiritual things, especially the Bible since that’s what my eight books are about–Biblical Studies. Trump had to be called out because he was so unfit for the job. I’m saying this because I’ve... Read more

Si Woo Kim just won The American Express golf tournament on the PGA Tour at LaQuinta Country Club near Palm Springs, California. He bested Patrick Cantlay, who shot an 11-under par 61 today, by one stroke with a 64 for a total 23-under par. But he had to play some clutch golf at the end by birdieing the 16th and 17th holes to then lift the trophy. It was Kim’s third PGA Tour victory. There are so many good golf swings... Read more

Newsweek published an article three days ago entitled “16,000 Christians: Fire Franklin Graham for Helping Incite ‘Capitol Riot.'” I’ve blogged (see below) a few times about this son of famed Evangelist Billy Graham (now deceased) and Franklin’s unswerving, vocal support of Donald Trump as president, even repeatedly claiming God made him president. It gives me no pleasure to speak out against the son of Billy Graham. Billy was a friend of mine and endorsed the back cover of my first... Read more

Joe Biden–the former U.S. Senator and eight years Obama’s vice president–became the president of the USA yesterday in an outdoors ceremony at the Capitol Building on a bright, sunny, Inauguration Day in Washington D.C. President Biden delivered a speech that centered on calling Americans to unity, as in the United States of America. This theme of unity was due to the divisive, four-year term of his predecessor President Donald Trump. This disunity had emerged most vividly only two weeks ago,... Read more

Last Friday, 85-year old Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas announced that after about 15 years, the PA and alienated Hamas will join together to hold both presidential and parliamentarian elections. The irreligious PA governs Palestinians living in the West Bank, and the strongly Islamic Hamas–which the U.S. has long regarded as a terrorist group–governs Palestinians living in the tiny Gaza Strip. Most Americans think President Donald Trump gained accreditation in his foreign policy when he engineered the following: recognized Jerusalem... Read more
