Should Anyone Ever be ‘The Glory’ of Anyone Else?

Should Anyone Ever be ‘The Glory’ of Anyone Else? October 13, 2018

When I’m reading the blogs of the usual gang of evangelical quiverfull folks I frequently run across blog posts that are the author putting up some quote from their own self-published book. The king of book promotion via supposely pithy quotes is one Doug Wilson of Blog and Mablog. He is also the king of the word salad-y. Sometimes when he does this he takes an odd bit of scripture and takes it into a place it does not belong. Like this bit on a woman being a man’s glory, Which leads me to wonder, should anyone ever be the glory of something else?

What kind of glory is the Bible and/or Doug talking about? It does not matter because whatever it is Doug is using it to beat up his two favorite flavors of strawmen: Feminists and Homosexuals. The fundy boogiemen hiding under the bed to drag Doug and pals down to hell that in reality is completely harmless to him.

Whatever the original meaning of a woman being a man’s glory in the Bible I feel pretty certain it has been manipulated, perverted and twisted from the author’s original intent. This is the problem with taking a bronze age book written eons ago literally. You get this Biblical Twister that makes no real sense at all. Doug would be better served sticking to the words of Jesus and not trying to peek into others bedrooms.

On a related post by Mr. Wilson I found an image that is his idea of a raving lebian feminist. How he makes the determination what she is I don’t know. I think she’s perfectly fine whatever way she is. It’s Wilson that’s the problem.

He also throws in a heaping helping of fat-shaming.Β  A guy who looks rather rotund from the photos I’ve seen decides that all women have to be slim or they are somehow sinful. All women have to please his male gaze. Yeah, Doug, please go make us all sandwiches and make yourself useful.
