Do Quiverfull Men Control Their Wives Voting? November 23, 2018

We’ve covered the subject of women voting or not voting in many different branches of Quiverfull. There are those like Lori Alexander that hate the very idea of women having the right to vote, that still vote themselves. Then there are those like Nancy Campbell that advise wives to vote as their husbands tell them to vote. Since the Midterm elections there’s been a great deal of talk online on women voting. Do Quiverfull men control their wives voting?

I would have said no, that not even guys as loathsome spiritually as Steven Anderson and Larry Solomon would be foolish enough to attempt to force their vote on their wives, maybe…. but there was a disturbing article out of the UK in The Guardian titled β€˜How Many Husbands Control the Votes of Their Wives?’. The surprising answer is far more than you might think, and not all of them involved in religion either.

One has to wonder how much more intense and likely this is in the groups affiliated with the Christian Patriarch Movement, where everything about their wives is controlled by men. Do you think that religion might add a more intense focus on who the wives vote for?

This is indeed a disturbing trend that I’ve never seen addressed in the media before. The article goes on to talk of the gender splits occurring primarily between men and women, followed by speculating that mail in voting further strips these same women of any voting booth privacy, allowing the husbands to dictate the choice.

What do you think? Do you think this is more or less prevalent in Quiverfull households.
