When Pastors Fear Gays Way Too Much?

When Pastors Fear Gays Way Too Much? July 17, 2019

These screen caps popped up this morning in one of the Facebook groups I am a member of. They are by Pastor Tim Bayly, of Out of Their Minds and Clearnote Church. He seems to be sending a clear note of one thing, his extreme fear he might secretly have gay leanings. Or, at least that’s the first thing that pops to mind when you listen to these extremist pastors who fear gays way too much. You have to wonder if they are projecting their own fears and desires.

Bayly has to reach all the way back to Roman times and make spurious claims about Romans and how being the pitcher/raper/aggressor is not gay, just being a bottom is. Non-gays can be tops, but never bottoms.

This strikes me as such a bizarre conversation to be having, must less holding it in the public sphere of social media. Reading this people are going to jump to some strange conclusions. I know I have.

So strange he would actually research and know this stuff about Romans! I don’t think the average pastor or church goer thinks much about buggery, being the giver or recipient. At least not as much or deeply as Bayly.

I cannot ever recall reading about β€˜Soft Men’ in the Bible. Bayly is projecting his own issues onto the Bible again.

Rolling on the floor laughing right now! So jewelry, fancy clothing, piercings, tattoos and elaborate coifs are somehow β€˜Gay’, less than manly? I wouldn’t say that to Jason Momoa’s face.

These are all cultural stylistic things Bayly is moaning about like an old woman. Styles change. Men were the first wearers of high heels. Men used to wear wigs. None of those things, or his lists have anything to do with sexuality or manliness.

What defines a man? Too many wonderful diverse things to list here. I know one thing, real men are not worried about their masculinity.
