The Wisdom of Derick Dillard

The Wisdom of Derick Dillard 2022-03-01T17:15:09-04:00

Jim Bob Duggar son in law and law student Derick Dillard seems to have a lot of time on his hands to tweet. Last week we posted the tweet where he complained that he and his wife Jill Duggar Dillard got no money from TLC for their participation in the television show β€œCounting On.” Today he is exhibiting exactly how much white middle class male privilege he has over the ideas of money and poverty.

I have to say anyone that follows the outdated advice of Evangelical Christian financial adviser Dave Ramsey pretty much deserves whatever financial mess they find themselves in. Much of his advice is ancient, does not translate well to our modern world, fitting more with the times of the 1950s.

How do I know all of this? My husband and I were conned into taking his course at a steep price at our Methodist church. We were dismayed how much of his advice was so wrong, from paying off little bills first, to investing in risky portions of the stock market. Did I also mention that Ramsey lives in a multi million dollar home paid for by his followers?

Dear Dave, CASH can be paid and accepted at ALL schools. Going into debt is not required. The school does not give a frog’s fat rear end how you end up scaring up the funds to attend. Not their problem. You should have clarified you were speaking of less expensive schools.

Dear Derick, how very clueless you are! Education in our country has gone up beyond all reason. While it was possible back in my college days of the late 70s and early 80s to work and pay tuition it’s not even remotely possible now. Most families do not have adequate savings for this. Even more tragic most other developed nations offer free or almost free higher education, allowing them to have a well educated workforce. The high costs of education here is going to eventually cause the U.S. to have much fewer skilled professionals.

I wonder how Derick is paying for law school. It’s not free. He does not do a lick of work beyond delivering food for Uber Eats. Debt? Or a Jim Bob Duggar handout?

You would think that Derick would understand what real poverty looks like after having lived and/or ministered to the poorer populations in Nepal and El Salvador. There are so many desperately poor people in El Salvador I cannot see how Derick could possibly plead any sort of poverty. You never realize how well you have it until you travel to places where the advantages you have in the United States do not exist. Guess Dillard learned de nada on his mission trips.

No wonder Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar seem to act like Jill and Derick do not exist!
