I don’t even know what to say about this one except Doug Wilson does not understand women at all! In this short piece Doug claims that women only stop going to church f a man is involved.

Knitta please! Women stop going to church for all the same reasons men do and more! Men usually are not worked to death in various ministries and roles like women in the church. Thanklessly harnessed in like coal miner’s pit pony and worked about as hard.

Women leave churches because they’re tired of being gossiped about, belittled, treated like a 2nd class Christian.It’s wonder any of us go to church, or even stay considering how fraught with difficulties it can be for women in ways that most men never experience. Add in that in Quiverfull you have people that think your reproductive life is their business and it’s a toxic stew of blaming.

This is Doug’s rendition of two pastors discussing a woman who has stopped attending church as often:

“I have approached her a couple times to inquire,” Martin said, “and she just brushes me off with vague ambiguities—travel, sick, busy, always something . . . my wife attempted to talk with her once and got the same thing. I don’t know what to make of it.”

Then Carl, his friend, said, “The only question you need to ask is ‘What’s his name?’”

Martin leaned forward. “What?”

Carl laughed. “Don’t worry. This is not wisdom that arises from your old roommate. My dad was in the ministry for 40 years, and he told me once that guys fall away for multitudinous reasons—career, cocaine, comics, competition, cars . . . but they all apparently begin with c. But when young women fall away, there is invariably a guy involved in it somewhere. And don’t tell me I am being sexist. Just ask her that question.”

This is insulting to all women. If you encounter some angry controlling pastor that wants to know if you are sharing your party favors with a man and that’s why you’ve stopped being there every single time the door is open RUN! He is only interested in pegging you into that small mental box, that tiny sliver of what he thinks women are and women do.
