It’s Sunday, Meaning Scofflaw Churches Are Open – Open Thread Covid 19 2022-03-01T17:14:49-04:00

It’s Sunday! Which means tomorrow morning we’ll see an absolute fleet of articles on which churches decided to buck the stay at home orders in their states, people will be talking about it and nothing concrete will happen to the scofflaw pastors. Best case scenario there will be arrests. But the problem with that is that it gives those very same pastors the ability to martyrbate madly, and raise even more money.

ABC News has a piece on the legality of asking worshipers to stay home and how that fits with the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.Β  It’s not clear to anyone if states can legally order churches not to hold services. It would seem to me that the First Amendment might not apply if your free speech puts others in true physical harm.

CNN did a piece this week that was chilling, where their reporter stood in the parking lot of a big church and talked to the worshipers leaving the service. Lots of hostile, mean spirited answers while proclaiming that Jesus would protect them from the virus. I fear it’s going to take a much larger toll on that population. Ironic. Unnecessary deaths in the name of Jesus.

Who else is obsessively watching CNN? I have been while bend over my quilting frame. Now that we’re on lockdown of the entire country time seems to stretch out and CNN has become my background jam. I will give CNN credit, they have a massive amount of Coronavirus resources on their page, from help dealing with the isolation to instructions on how to make yourself a mask.
