… I’ve made it half through the second month and true to my word I’ve been exercising regularly. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are my walk days and I walk at a local park for a mile or pretty darn close to it. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are my work out days where I do a 15 minute stair exercise routine after work and do planks, squats, and horrible things to my arms with hand weights. Sunday I rest because even... Read more

… To quote Fr. Longenecker, fear hell. Today is the option memorial of Our Lady of Fatima. Quoting the good Father again, It is sobering to remember that the visions of Fatima are not just the wishful thinking of three peasant children or the fanciful imaginations of ignorant children. The visions have been approved by the Church, validated by five popes and given credence by millions. Therefore we ought to take them seriously. Hell is real and should be rightly... Read more

… Happy Mother’s Day to you all. To the mothers who’ve buried children, miscarried, or due to infertility, can only nurse the desire of motherhood in their hearts. To the children whose mothers are no longer with them, either through death or estrangement. To the post-abortive mothers. Blessed are those who have doting children to pick them flowers and make them cards. Blessed are the children who enjoy happy relationships with their mothers. Whether today is a cause of joy... Read more

… Have you ever been to confession and poured out your heart and soul all over the floor of the confessional only to receive a halfhearted, almost perfunctory absolution like 3 Hail Mary’s? I have such a hard time with this. If we have different types of sins, venial and mortal, shouldn’t we have different types of penances to reflect the nature of the sin? I don’t get how some priests can give the exact same penance for all sins... Read more

… Let’s talk about apps. I few weeks ago I broke down and purchased an iPhone. I really just wanted the My Fitness Pal app – which I’m happy to report, I’ve logged in for 29 consecutive days today. It’s been exactly 4 weeks free of processed foods, soda, and dining out/fast food. I’m anxious to see if it’s had any effect on my weight. I digress. I’ll save the reveal for the weekly diet post later. This post is... Read more

… Free real estate advice because I am a giver! If you are moving to an area and you’re not familiar with the neighborhoods and schools, please don’t ask your realtor what the demographic is. Sure you’ll get some agents who will tell you this neighborhood is predominately this ethnicity or that, but they’d be violating a whole slew of laws by doing so. Do you really want someone helping you who just proved they’re unethical? Neighborhoods fluctuate over time.... Read more

… I know I promised not to turn this into a diet blog, but it just so happened this week I’d been too busy to sit down and write anything else. Things I’ve Learned – What the difference between being satisfied, full, and stuffed feels like. – That one pound of weight lost relieves 4 pounds of pressure off the knees. – You sleep better after getting... Read more

… I figured the best way to discuss the “diet” thing on my blog, without becoming overly obsessive on the topic, would be to offer weekly roundups at the end of each week. So lets kick this off with some things I’ve learned, some inspirational stories, NSV ( non scale victories), and just some general thoughts on body issues and eating disorders. Things I’ve Learned – There are more different types of diets than there are hairs on my head.... Read more

… I totally lost my shit today. I was walking to my car after work when I passed a young lady walking her dog – not an uncommon occurrence since my office is in a semi-residential neighborhood with a lot of foot traffic. What was uncommon about this incident was that this particular woman was also being sexually harassed by a man standing on the corner obscenely gesturing and yelling sexually explicit comments directed at her. She kept her head... Read more
