Zach Anner was a travel correspondent for an Oprah show at one time. I don’t know if he’s still doing that, but I ran across this video where he has a show on Youtube going to different religious groups and learning about them!
His video on Hinduism takes place at the Hindu Students Association at University of Southern California.
I actually went to this school for graduate school and I was a member of this Hindu group when I was there!
That was several years ago, so none of the people in the video are people I know. (Btw, I just found out that Ashu at Hindi University was also at the Hindu Student’s Assocation at USC at the same time as me! We probably met but don’t remember each other!)
I think Zach asks some great questions at the discussion group at the end.
I particularly like the way one student says that he didn’t appreciate Hinduism until he lived somewhere it wasn’t as common:
“When you’re away from something, you realize the value of it.”
I have spoken before about how valuable I think it is to experience being the religious minority at least once in your life. It really does give you a very different persepctive.
