My Trip To India 2015

My Trip To India 2015 January 14, 2015

My trip to India is now just days away. This will be my second trip there. I loved it the first time. The moment I set foot on Indian soil I felt like I was coming home. It all felt right. (Yes, I think there’s a good chance I lived in India in a recent previous life!)

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to return and to travel with my dad and several friends from my childhood. It’s going to be such a special trip.

Making it even more special, our guru has announced his successor and the ceremony to make it official is going to happen while we are there visiting the guru! I am thrilled that we will get to participate in this very important moment.

Jagadguru Announces Shishya Sweekara
Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peethadhipati Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji has announced His Shishya Sweekara. The Jagadguru Mahaswamiji made the announcement, divinely inspired by Goddess Sharadamba in His Anugraha Bhashanam given during the culmination of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of His Peetharohanam. The Jagadguru has chosen Brahmachari Kuppa Venkatesha Prasada Sharma to be His Uttaradhikari – the successor-designate to the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham. The Jagadguru announced that the Shishya Sweekara ceremonies will take place on 22nd and 23rd January 2015 at Sringeri. The Jagadguru will initiate the Brahmachari into Sannyasa  on 23rd January 2015.
I’ll have to pack my fancy sari!

I always love to meet blog readers in real life and I’m hoping that some of my readers in the areas of India that I’m traveling through might be able to meet up with me.
I picked up some postcards so that if you do manage to find me in India, I’ll have a little token to give you!
Here is some information on where I’ll be:

Saturday January 17th: Shopping and sight-seeing in Chennai.

Sunday January 18th: Visiting places around Chennai, possibly Dakshina Chitra Museum and Mahabalipuram

Monday January 19-24: Sringeri

January 24-26: Tiruvannamalai

So if you’re in the area, keep an eye out for us. I’ll be traveling with 8 or so friends mostly white Americans in their 50s and 60s.

I’ll be home soon and sharing pictures! 😀
