Despite being a white American Hindu, I am not as touchy-feely or “new agey” as people usually expect me to be. I know that other people with similar interests and life experiences to me experience feeling flows of energy or auras or vibes and I have no experience of those things. I’m kind of sad that I’m missing out when my husband and my cousin start talking about reiki and feeling the energy. They both feel it and I do not.
My husband can feel the flow of chi in his body from practicing tai chi and his style of meditation. He corrects our home for feng shui flow. I haven’t felt those things.
But I say all that in order to express to you how remarkable our meditation room is!
It is a room that feels physically calming and peaceful the moment you step through the door. It’s like a pent up breath being released. Just standing in that room makes you feel like you are becoming centered. Even I can feel it.
And not just me. Every person that has come into that room has commented on how deeply peaceful it feels, including the outgoing salesman who sold us attic insulation and didn’t have a clue what meditation even was.
From this one room in our house I am learning that meditation, prayer, and centering practices have a real effect on the world. Places do have “vibes” and we can influence them with our behavior.
