What’s Better Than Being a Palin?

Many times, people try to define me by my parents.  I am Republican Sarah Palin’s daughter.  Or, here in Alaska, I am Iron Dog champion Todd Palin’s kid.  This is true – and I’m so proud of my family and my parents! But, there’s something even better.

What am I talking about?

Well, after I wrote about “How I Got Over My Very Public Mistakes,” the guys at CCEF sent me a nice little bundle of materials.  I’m just now reading one little booklet, called “Single Parent: Daily Grace for the Hardest Job” which has this description:

If you are a single parent, you already know you have one of the hardest jobs in the world. Trying to be both dad and mom–breadwinner, cook, chauffeur, comforter, dishwasher, homework helper, disciplinarian, nurse, and role mode–can wear down the hardiest man or woman. But do you know that God, in the Bible, offers words of grace, power, and hope especially for you?

Well, that got my attention! In the first chapter, Robert D. Jones writes that we should mainly view ourselves as Christians, not as “single parents.”

While our marital or parental positions describe our circumstances, they do not give us our identity.  Whether you are single, a parent, or that challenging hybrid of a single parent, that is not who you ARE.  Who are you? Hear the apostle’s words to all who belong to Christ Jesus.

He then quotes this:

“You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ.” (Galatians 3)

Many times, people try to define me by my parents and my family, which is wonderful. I’m so proud of all of them!  But my true spiritual identity is even better than proudly wearing the last name of “Palin.”  How much better is it that I’m a child of God?

In other words, I’m not so much a “Christian SINGLE PARENT,” I am a CHRISTIAN who for the time being is a single parent.  Being a single mom is my situation, not my identity.

Are you a struggling single parent or do you know one?  Leave a comment below before Monday at noon and I’ll randomly select one of you to receive this great little mini-book!

Frankly I feel blessed and extremely fortunate to know that families like the Palins exist. Todd and Sarah have a wonderful family, sure there have been some stumbles but that proves to me at least that they are just human. Something about casting the first stone comes to mind… The Palins message thats rings straight through to me is, whatever life throws in your way accept it and find the positive path to follow. Its to easy to hate and to blame someone else for problems and it doesn’t solve a thing. Pick yourself up accept responsibility for yourself and you’ll go far, or blame someone else and spend your life trolling forums and blogs.

I love this message Bristol. You are a child of God FIRST and I’m proud of you and your family for standing up against the haters! I was just thinking this morning when I was hearing yet another idiotic thing that Joe Biden said (he is such a buffoon!). … People/Left/Dems/Liberals claimed to be SO fearful of your mother being our VP becaue she would have been just a heart beat from the presidency. OMGosh, could you imagine if Biden was our President? The difference between Biden and Obama is stark, one is a laughable buffoon, the other has an anti-America agenda. Either one is a detriment to our Republic. Oh how I wish your Mom was in the White House.
Wishing you and yours ALL the BEST!! God bless you!

Today being mothers day, I awoke with these words on my heart, and I believe are from the Lord.
A love story about a man, and a woman whom God has chosen to be one is the best story a person can enjoy hearing they have the tendency to touch your emotions, your spirit, and give you a glad heart. This love story comes thru the continuance of time, and space to its origin the Throne of God to the one who sits on this throne God Himself who is all love. God being all love has chosen the union of this man, and woman whom He has made one, and gifting in them His very nature of love. God is honoring the woman today with one of His greatest blessing of being a mother. Happy mothers Bristol Just remember God has the right person chosen for you even before creation, and has forgiven because you have asked Him. As I read many hateful comments towards you and your family it saddens my heart but I know who motivates them to do so, coming from he who lives in hell. Praying for all the Palins.

For all of you haters out there… What’s worse than being a Palin? Being you. The Palin’s don’t hate anyone. They don’t blame others for their problems, or for mistakes they make. They’re honorable, upright, and overall, very smart and sensible people. So, Bristol is right… What’s better than being a Palin? Being Christian. Being a Palin is being a child of the Palins, which means you’re loved unconditionally, even when you do wrong. Being a Christian is being a child of God, who loved you enough to give His life, which was to give up immortality, for an ignominious death.

If there was anyone to be angry, it was how God on earth in the form of Christ was treated. Yet, not only did He not get angry, he forgave them while being executed.

Contrast this with your hate-filled anger at Bristol… for being a child of the Palins and a child of God. And you can see why being a Palin is in every way better… than being you.

Why do I get the idea that every word that you post on your blog was written by some PR hack? None of it comes across as genuine, none of it soulds like it comes from someone your age, and with your very dubious education background. Basically, it sounds fake.

You’re saying identify as a Christian before identifying as a specific family function type.

Yes. That does seem wise. I’ll remember that. Also, parenting and faith strengthen each other.

    This is a good blog.
