Justin Bieber’s Mom: Pregnant at 17, Advised to Abort

Well, we already knew this about Justin Bieber.  Now, we might know why.  According to a new book, “Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom,” his mother was advised to abort Justin when she got pregnant at 17 years old.  Today Entertainment Reports:

By the age of 17, Mallette became pregnant with Justin, and at the time, she was encouraged to abort the baby. Of course, Mallette said that was an option she couldn’t consider. “I just knew I couldn’t. I just knew I couldn’t. I just know I had to keep him,” she told Gifford. “And, do the best. I — you know, I didn’t know how I was going to do it. But I just knew that I couldn’t — I couldn’t abort. I had to do my best. I had to see what I could do. And I was determined to do whatever it took.”

Now, that’s a determined woman, and – as someone who also got pregnant at 17 – it’s so inspirational to hear her story!  I love hearing stories about people getting back up! It’s not about the fall, it’s about getting back up, and accepting your circumstances and making the best of them… Actually, one of my family’s favorite quotes is, “Buck up or stay in the truck!”   So to honor Pattie’s strength, let’s do a book giveaway!  There are two ways to win:

1.  Tweet @BristolsBlog and @pattiemallette with the hashtag #NowhereButUpGiveaway to enter to win a copy of Pattie Mallette’s new book! (I’ll pick a winner randomly on Friday at noon eastern, so stay tuned!)

And if Justin’s mother was a Liberal, Justin would never have been born.

    • Ocross

Bristol, you conveniently didn’t mention that Justin was born in Canada, a “liberal” country where she had access to free health care, welfare and a multitude of other support services provided by the government. Though they are legal and accessible, the rate of abortions is lower in countries (such as Canada) where health care is free than in the States. Get it right.

ummmmm, i have lived in several states here in the US and they ALL have free healthcare and everything else. what the hell are you talking about?

Oh my gosh, I had no idea! Another inspiring story about a woman who decided against abortion. Tim Tebow is another great one. And, of course, Bristol and Sarah. My respect for Justin Bieber just spiked. PS: I love that quote, “Buck up or stay in the truck!” Your mom’s got a million quotes like that! Haha “Don’t Retreat, Reload” is another great one. It’s my “Favorite Quotation” on my FB.

Justin and his family are Canadian. Conservatives in Canada would be considered extremely liberal in the U.S. And his mother made a “choice.” That is what being pro choice is all about. Not pro abortion as the religious right claims. Even Bristol’s own mother condisered abortion for a fleeting moment when pregnant with Trig. That is by her own admission. She made a “choice.” Pro choice is NOT pro abortion.

Another great post, Bristol. We need to keep hearing this!

  • Chelsea

That’s great that she was able to make that choice for herself! Nobody should be forced into having a baby, or keeping a baby. I’m glad she she is happy regarding the choice she made for her own body.

    • Chelsea

Sorry, meant to say nobody should be forced into having a baby or aborting a baby.

    Way to go, Pattie!
“Buck up or stay in the truck!” LOL, So great! I needed this today, Bristol :)
I love your family…….GOD BLESS them.

People can think all different kinds of thoughts. But it comes down to, if it’s not life then it’s death. Each child was a right to live.
