New DWTS “Paper Moose” Controversy

Last week, to get in the mood for our Dancing with the Stars quick step to “Redneck Woman,” Mark and I went to a shooting range.

Twitchy reports on some of the Twitter backlash against me, because I shot a paper target imprinted with the image of the moose.  Not a moose, mind you.  But a moose outline.

Guess what, paper moose lovers?  It gets worse than that.  A few weeks ago, my dad took Willow and me on a moose hunt.  In case you who don’t know where food comes from, this is what keeps our freezers full at home.

If who’ve never been to a range, don’t knock what you haven’t tried.  When you do it right, target shooting is safe and a whole lot of fun.

As for those whose hearts are full of compassion for paper, I can assure you that the targets don’t feel a thing.

See you at the range!

Do you want to be a part of my DWTS journey? Then, e-mail me so I can add you to my mailing list.  (My address is BristolsBlog @ gmail.com, without the space! Make sure to use the subject line: DWTS.) I’d love to give you the latest up-to-the-minute reports about the show!

I love your comments this week Bristol, thats awesome. I guess the carnival games that you shoot turkey targets are out of the question too huh. I think people just look for something to complain about and create drama where there is none or should not be. You may not be the best dancer in the world, I dont recall that you ever claimed to be, but you obviously have a head on your shoulders and I think you are so brave to stand up for your beliefs and to put yourself through the rigorous physical and emotional stress of DWTS. Keep up the good work, I think you have improved tremendously since the last season that you danced. If the Chichakos dont like your dancing, there is always the remote control with a button that says off!

    Bristol,
Liberals hate guns…remember a few weeks ago when they made hay about your fingers in the shape of a pistol? You could have shot a blank piece of paper with nothing on it. Someone would have balked. I take heat sometimes because my site is all gun-themed…and whoever doesn’t like can go elsewhere. For my part, I’d love to see more of you shooting – and Sarah as well.
But…I must be completely frank and open with you here….my concern with your range trip was time spent vs. benefits accrued to your performance. The range trip was time away from the studio – probably 4 – 8 hours by the time all was said and done. Did it make Mark or you do the Quickstep better? You don’t have to post that – it’s for you to consider. If it did, great and my concern is unfounded. Was it scheduled time off that everyone was supposed to have. That’s different If it’s neither, then…
As a fan and supporter of you, I don’t want to see you eke it from show to the next. I want to see you ace it – and Bristol you can. Yes you can. You have it in you. You just need to unlock it. Let the music transport you…. This week coming up especially is going to be a hard one – your hardest show ever to date. For this week – dancing. No shooting. No distractions. Hone yourself to the pinnacle of dancing perfection. Those are my thoughts for today.

Some people just have no brains. I’m sure that paper moose didn’t feel any pain whatsoever. I think these must be people that have no life and have nothing better to do than find something to gripe about.

On another note, Bristol, if you must chew gum on DWTS when you’re up in the viewing box upstairs, chew with your mouth closed. :) Loved your dance but would really like to see you a bit more expressive. You always keep the same plastered smile (a nice one) on your face but the judges like to see expressive faces. We know you can do that. Show some personality like the others do and you’ll go far.

You go girl! A paper moose upsets them? They must all be vegetarians, lol!

That poor paper moose….how could you!! Now he and that paper squirrel my daughter shot at her hunters ed class are in their little paper heaven. Oh well. In honor of these poor dead paper animals, I think I’ll pull a roast from the freezer for dinner…deer roast (not paper). In loving memory.
