X Factor Star Says Abortions of Babies with Down Syndrome “Hurt My Heart”

X Factor Star Says Abortions of Babies with Down Syndrome “Hurt My Heart” May 14, 2014

When British singer Leona Lewis was asked about the large percentage of babies who have Down Syndrome are aborted, she said it made her “incredibly sad” and that “it hurts my heart.”

Then, she went on to perform at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation Gala.

Lewis, of course, won the X Factor in 2006, and has created an amazing career.  Watch her interview below.  We need more celebrities speaking up for those who have no voice.

I looooove when a celebrity has the guts to protect what’s right.

Editor’s Note: Following publication of this article, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation advised that a 2012 report in Prenatal Diagnosis, based on a review of studies from 1995-2011, concluded that the abortion rate of Down Syndrome babies is between 67%-85%, lower than the 92% rate reported from a 1999 study-review. See report and conclusions here.)
