Did you hear what he said?

On Halloween, President Obama was in Rhode Island talking about women and the economy. He said the government should be funding more preschools and daycares to help working moms. Just another speech — until he said this:

Sometimes, someone, usually mom, leaves the workplace to stay home with the kids, which then leaves her earning a lower wage for the rest of her life as a result. And that’s not a choice we want Americans to make.

Poor choice of words, Mr. President.

When you take someone else’s perfectly good life choice and say they shouldn’t do that because they make less money.

It’s not like having their mom at home hurts kids. All Obama said is they don’t make as much when they stay home. So no mother should ever choose to do that?

Maybe she thinks her kids are worth the sacrifice! Are you going to tell her that’s the wrong choice?

As a single mom, I have to work. In fact, I drive to Anchorage every day and clock in and out — just to make sure I have a steady income to put bread on the table for my son. However, I don’t think that we should look down on moms who have the option of staying home!

Good moms rock – whether they work or stay at home or do a little of both. Let them decide what’s best for their own family!

And I’m not the only one who thinks this. Here’s what some other people said about the President’s speech:

“That’s not a choice we want Americans to make.” WHO IS “WE.”

Where are the “feminists” on this one? What about a “woman’s right to choose”?

perfect words from POTUS’ lips on how Dems really feel about women & families.

One guy got especially mad, but in the process made some good points:

Don’t fall for this [crap]. Two things they want, control and money. Both parents working means tax revenue, kids in state pre-K is control.

It is a lie. It is the biggest lie told to children & immature adults that you can have everything without sacrifice. Biggest lie ever told.

Most people lap up these promises, are perpetually unhappy because reality strikes back, and then blame others for their imperfect lives.

Do you really want the state making choices for you? Do you really want them creating a one size fits all world?

The more you rely on the government, the more it owns you.

I don’t need the President telling me what’s best for me and my child. Neither does any other mom.
