PGA Star Jordan Spieth Is Inspired By His Autistic Sister Ellie

PGA Star Jordan Spieth Is Inspired By His Autistic Sister Ellie July 16, 2015

Jordan Spieth is making a lot of history in the world of sports and could make even more later this summer and throughout his career. But it’s not the records he’s breaking that make him great.

This Sunday, Jordan Spieth won the U.S. Open, one of the biggest golf tournaments in the world and our national championship of golf. But immediately following his win, Jordan wasn’t thinking about himself.  Instead, he told reporters he was so excited to go home to celebrate with his sister Ellie.

Ellie has autism, and Jordan has often said she is his key inspiration.

Following his win at the Masters this year, Jordan said of Ellie:

I love having her around. She’s an incredible sister, my biggest supporter. She is somebody who you can watch and then reflect on the big picture of life and understand that all these frustrations in a day, or in a round of golf, are really secondary.

How amazing to see a sports superstar who loves his sister so well, and who tells the watching world just how much he has learned from her and other people with special needs!

I hope to see many more great things from Jordan (and Ellie) this golf season!
