Top Five Things I’m Looking Forward to at SLC Comic Con

Top Five Things I’m Looking Forward to at SLC Comic Con September 2, 2014

SIMON-HELBERG

The countdown to Salt Lake City Comic Con is T-minus two days. As of this time Thursday, I’ll be giving my first panel discussion.

So, what am I looking forward to the most at my first ever Comic Con?

Here is the list…..

5) Interviewing Cool People.

Here’s the thing, I’m not really a celebrity geek. I’ve got my favorites, of course, but no one I’d really fall over myself if I met them. When I do a celebrity interview, I’m interested in what motivates them as a creative person.

As press for Comic Con, I get to approach any of the celebrities for interviews. So, here is who I really want to get (if possible): Stephen Amell (Arrow), Bruce Campbell, Simon Helberg, Stan Lee (want to ask him about Daredevil’s Catholicism), Ron Perlman (I’m a huge Sons of Anarchy fan),  and Eliza Dushku.

However, I also want to get interviews with individual artists that come across my path. Who knows, maybe I’ll throw in a few cosplayers in the mix.

4) WETA WORKSHOP

As a Tolkien nerd who loves what Peter Jackson did with Lord of the Rings (and meh about The Hobbit), I can’t wait to see the WETA workshop with the huge Smaug. I can promise you pictures on that one.

3) The 501st Legion, Han Solo in Carbonite, Land Speeder, etc.

Part of the fun of a comic con is all the side fun you can have with the displays. I’m going to sit in the Land Speeder. That’s happening.

Full list of assorted cool stuff here. Plus….Twiki will be there…I mean, come on….

2) Speaking on Panels with Cool People.

I’m on five panel discussions that start Thursday night through Saturday night. You can go here for the topics and times. However, one of the coolest things about being on said panels is that I get to hang with a group of amazing people that I can’t wait to meet.

Check out the full panel discussion line up.

Exhibit Hall

1) Walking around the Expo Hall

To me, Comic Con should be about comics. I’m looking forward to walking around the hall, meeting artists, writers and other creative people. Oh, and, probably buying a ton of Daredevil crap that I don’t need. This is the heart of the Con for me and I’m really excited about it.
