Like the Birds of the Air

The birds have no borders
they call no country ‘home’.
Their range is the wide sky
boundless in blue and calm.

They travel light, without
passports or visas signed.
Checkpoints and border guards
never stop their kind.

They have no roads or traffic;
their routes remain unplanned,
except by the stars and sun,
the seasons and the wind.

The birds fly free over land,
and widely they roam.
they live everywhere,
and nowhere’s their home.

    Beautiful poem. I’ve always loved the Magna Charta of Heaven, Matthew 5-7, especially “consider the lilies…consider the birds.” And God knowing when every sparrow falls. You communicate something very true and beautiful here.
