Graven Images

Wal-Mart is selling religious statues. They are in the toy section, and are designed to help kids learn their Bible stories by playing with action figures.

That’s Daniel in the lion’s den.

Check out the pictures galleries here to see them all…

So nice to see the Protestants starting to accept the need for religious statues….

Next thing you know they’ll be putting little statues of Jesus on their dashboard, lighting candles before the sacred heart of Jesus and carrying statues of the Mother of God in procession.

Just as long as there’s no idol worship.Parents must be vigilant.

Ok, I know you are being sarcastic here, but honestly! They’re action figures. It’s just marketing, aimed at Christians who want more wholesome toys for their little ones. It has nothing to do with Protestants vs. Catholics, or graven images, for that matter. What’s with all the protestant bashing lately?

    Jess. It was a joke.

There cute. Maybe if I bought them my son would stop playing with his statues. he has a glow in the dark Mary statue that he flies around the room in the dark screaming “SUPER MARY!” For a sacrilage, it sure make me laugh. But we Catholics have a warped sense of humor.

    and horrible grammer. ;-P

What about felt banners? Could we give them all the Catholic Church’s felt banners? ;-)

A friend (non-Catholic) had a young daughter that was having trouble sleeping. When she asked me for advice, I told her what we did with our sleepless princess-bought her a soft, cuddly Jesus doll. The reaction on the friend’s face was truly priceless. So, yeah, it is sometimes about the whole Catholic/not Catholic thing. But I got the joke anyway.Sharon

The lion doesn’t look particularly menacing. If I’m Daniel and stuck in a den with that chap, I’d be playing rather than praying =)If they had action figures made in Spain, then there’d be blood and gore everywhere.
