Hitchens v. Hitchens

Famous atheist writer Christopher Hitchens has a Christian brother who is also a writer. Peter Hitchens writes eloquently here about the long running feud with his brother and how the clash of their world views is being reconciled. It’s a moving and v. human tale.

People like Christopher Hitchens are not just mere atheists, they are misanthropic towards anything and anyone that doesn't believe as he believes. Just look at the picture in your link, for goodness sake. Can you honestly say that Christopher Hitchens isn't bitter?BTW, for those of you who don't know Christopher Hitchens, in the link provided there is a picture that has the names mixed-up. Christopher Hitchens is the one on the left while Peter Hitchens is the one on the right.

My favorite comment, and the one I think perhaps THE most important insight we can glean from this beautiful prose of Peter Hitchens….is his remark that people like his brother usually don't respond to a frontal assault on their beliefs, but are "more likely to be countered by the unexpected force of poetry, which can ambush the human heart at any time. " Bravo Peter!
