Tony Perkins is now admitting that his claim that Minneapolis and Dearborn are Muslim “no-go zones” is “not literally accurate.” In other words, it’s false. It was a lie. But of course, he now makes a far weaker claim that he will no doubt claim to be accurate even though it has nothing to do with the original lie.

Rep. Keith Ellison, a Muslim congressman who represents Minneapolis, has sent a letter to Family Research Council leader Tony Perkins offering to take him to the place he claims is a “Muslim no-go zone” in that city. He also claimed the same thing about Dearborn, Michigan.

Tony Perkins, ever eager to strike the persecution pose, responded to a caller on his radio show by claiming that President Obama is causing Christians to be murdered around the world because he doesn’t think Christians should be allowed to engage in discrimination here.

For some reason, a lot of right wingers have a real hard-on for hating on the 17th Amendment, which changed the Senate from being appointed by state legislatures to being elected by voters. But I’ve never heard anyone blame it for gay marriage like Tony Perkins just did.

One of my absolute favorite things these days is watching bigots give each other pep talks, desperately trying to pretend that they’re still going to stop marriage equality from becoming a reality despite all evidence to the contrary. Here’s Tony Perkins’ latest attempt to amuse me:

Tony Perkins and Rick Santorum were on the radio together last week and Perkins declared that Christians are being persecuted around the world because this country has begun to stop persecuting gay people. Because there’s obviously a direct link between those things.

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council made a highly convoluted argument at the “I Stand Sunday” event this past weekend, arguing that if we don’t allow Christians to discriminate against gay people, this feeds anti-Christian persecution in other countries.

Tony Perkins, the uber-bigot who runs the Family Research Council, agreed with a caller on his show that gay rights is just a plot to implement population control and reduce the size of the human race. This argument always cracks me up. Do they think that if we don’t punish and discriminate against gay people, straight people are going to stop having kids?

I am always amused to see Christian right bigots try to convince themselves, and more importantly their followers who donate to their groups, that they’re in the majority on same-sex marriage and always will be. Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council says that Americans will never accept marriage equality.

I’m always amused by Christians who attempt to distinguish between Islam and Christianity by making false distinctions between the two religions. Tony Perkins and Sandy Rios did this on her radio show last week, claiming that Islam is “180 degrees” different because Muslims worship a “God of death.”

Sandy Rios of the American Family Association did her radio show live from the Values Voters Summit last week and had Tony Perkins as one of her guests. They agreed that American Christians are facing similar persecution to Meriam Ibrahim did in the Sudan:

Tony Perkins claimed last week that a handful of Americans have gone off to join ISIS because of separation of church and state. Not content with that idiotic claim, he’s now doubled down in a Christian Post article in claiming that it’s also to blame for sexting and gangs. Oh, and AP history exams. Or something.
