It’s going to be a very Risen-heavy week here at FilmChat. The film, which stars Joseph Fiennes and Tom Felton as two Roman officers who go looking for the body of Jesus, opens next Friday, with advance screenings in some cities on Thursday night — so the studio is releasing new promotional videos on an almost daily basis.
The newest video is this featurette that links Risen to The Passion of the Christ via Steven Mirkovich, who edited Risen and supervised The Passion Recut (i.e. the less-violent version of The Passion that Mel Gibson hoped would be rated PG-13, but wasn’t in the end; Risen, at least, was successful in getting a PG-13 rating):
Then there are the 30-second TV spots, of which we have four so far.
‘Vanished’ — which quotes various journalists who sing the film’s praises — begins by noting that Risen is being released by “the studio that brought you War Room and Heaven Is for Real,” easily the biggest “faith-based” hits of the past decade:
Then there is ‘Believe’ …
… ‘Different’ …
… and ‘Triumph Review’, which also quotes “critics”:
Finally, here is a 15-minute collection of behind-the-scenes footage, roughly a third of which concerns the opening battle scene:
