August Joy Project   I know I say this almost every month, but August absolutely flew by. Maybe it was trying to fit in all of the end of summer activities, or a conscious awareness of how quickly time actually passes by! If you’re new to what the joy project is, you can read about it here.  Enjoy! 1.  My morning started off with a run! Always one of my favorite ways to start the day! 2. Long talks with... Read more

I haven’t read the book, “Fifty Shades of Grey”, but I watched the trailer. Well, I started watching it, but I couldn’t finish because my skin started to crawl and I felt like I needed to go shower. The pornographic book has now been made into a movie that ladies will flock to when the movie is released on Valentines Day. The premise of the book is absolutely repulsive, and it breaks my heart that books and movies like this are a... Read more

I woke up bound and determined to make today a wonderful day! For most of last week I had a less than decent attitude, resulting in me complaining a lot more than normal and my heart was completely discontent. The symptom? Not spending time with my Father. While my circumstances weren’t ideal (according to what I thought they should be), I had failed to bring my hurts before the Lord. Last night, I finally sat down in the den of... Read more

This summer has been one of unusual trial and difficulty. Yet more heart wrenching news was delivered to me last week. My natural tendency is to county my many troubles, name them one by one. However, meditating and focusing on my troubles won’t cultivate a grateful heart. Gratitude and thankfulness are easy in the calm times, but to choose to respond to life’s trials with a tender and grateful heart is something that must be nurtured and practiced. In the childhood book “Pollyanna”, a... Read more

I’ve been grumpy this week. Typically, I’m a very joyful person and quickly hand over my difficult circumstances, troubles and cares to my Father, and allow Him to infuse my soul with His joy. Yesterday was different; I decided to grumble instead. Some of my family was supposed to come and visit me this weekend. For weeks, I’ve been gleefully anticipating their arrival, planning out our adventures, and proclaiming my excitement to everyone that would listen. This trip was going... Read more

A few weeks ago, my friend Daphne asked if I would be interested in doing a photo shoot with her. Daphne and I met at our church. We were both newbies at the same time, and found ourselves in somewhat the same place in life  – recent college grads, moved to a new city, making new friends, joining a new church, etc. I jumped at the chance because it sounded like a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. I... Read more

Someone asked me recently where I would like to be in 20 years. I was a bit caught off guard and waited for awhile before answering the question. Sure, I’ve casually thought about my goals and dreams for my future, and I make it a personal habit to set yearly goals for myself. (One of my goals for this year was to have four articles published. I’m three-fourths of the way there! Check out my articles here, here and here.)... Read more

Whooaaaa….Where did July go?! I seemed to have blinked and missed it. July was a very good month – certainly not without hardships (the ongoing struggles of a sister who’s been quite sick), but life kept me quite busy in July. Without further ado…here are July’s Joys… 1. Celebrated my friend Caitlin’s birthday with a rooftop surprise party! 2. Impromptu dinner with a friend from Liberty! 3. I started attaching a photo of John Boehner to all of the emails I... Read more

Looking to Jesus Hebrews 12:2 It is always the Holy Spirit’s work to turn our eyes away from self to Jesus. But Satan’s work is just the opposite; he is constantly trying to make us look at ourselves instead of Christ. He insinuates, “Your sins are too great for pardon; you have no faith; you do not repent enough; you will never be able to continue to the end; you do not have the joy of His children; you have... Read more

Approximately a year ago, I had accepted a job at Concerned Women for America, and was packing my bags and getting ready to move to Washington D.C. I took the following picture and used the hashtag #ChelseaGoesToDC   I never really intended for the hashtag to stick. Once I arrived in DC, I used it for a bit on pictures and tweets since I was still new to the city. The first time I went home to visit after moving,... Read more
