Yesterday, President Donald Trump said American “Jews who vote for Democrats show either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.” Typical of Trump, with his often bizarre and incomplete communications, he did not explain whether he meant disloyalty to him, the Republican Party, or the State of Israel. He seemed to mean the latter. This is especially so since the recent news cycle has been devoted much to his having convinced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week to... Read more

I think many of President Donald Trump’s statements make him look like a racist. However, as I’ve said before on this blog, I don’t believe a lot of what he says because he can be all over the map. One day he says one thing, and the next day he may say something else that contradicts what he said the day before. Thus, Donald Trump is not consistent in his statements. I don’t know if that is due to his... Read more

U.S. President Donald Trump is still harping about his claim that he and the Republican Party have suffered from massive voter fraud. In the presidential election in 2016, he had over three million fewer votes in the general election than Democratic nominee Hilary Clinton did, yet he had more votes than she did in the Electoral College, which determines the winner. Ever since, Trump has alleged that Ms. Clinton’s higher count in the general election was the result of voter... Read more

It’s old hat now, but Justin Thomas turned his six-stroke lead yesterday into a three-stroke win in the BMW Championship at Medinah near Chicago. And he did it without his Saturday A-game, when he shot a course record 61. He made it an interesting competition when he bogeyed the 10th hole, which left him with only a two stroke lead. But he got back to work, birdying four more holes for a 68 and 25-under par 263 total. Patrick Cantalay... Read more

Long-hitting Justin Thomas, former #1 pro golfer in the world, turned it on today at Medinah Country Club in the Chicago area by shooting an 11-under par 61 to take a six-stroke lead into the final round tomorrow in the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour. He started the round today by birdying the first five holes and had two eagles on his back nine. I used to play Medinah Country Club in the Western Open and once in the... Read more

When Elizabeth Warren campaigns for the Democratic nomination for president, she says repeatedly, “there’s God in every one of us.” And sometimes she adds to this, “There’s Jesus in every one of us.” She claims to have a Methodist background. So do I. But that is not what the Methodist Church, nor the Bible, teaches. The Bible begins by saying God is the Creator of “the heavens and the earth.” And the Bible says multiple times that God, whose name... Read more

Religious Jews used to be required to say a lengthy prayer every day known as the Eighteen Benedictions. It is also called The Amidah Prayer. Some think the so-called “Lord’s Prayer” that Jesus taught–recorded in Matthew 6.9-13 and Luke 11.2-4–represents somewhat of a condensation of the Amidah Prayer. Well, not quite. The twelfth of the eighteen benedictions in the Amidah Prayer is a curse against Christians and other heretics. It says, “For the apostates let there be no hope, and... Read more

In the history of golf, there are some false statements made about Sam Snead’s famous driver with which he won most of his seven majors and most of his total 82 wins on the PGA Tour, which record still stands. It is correct that he used this club for many years, reportedly seventeen, in the prime of his career. But this club was not a Wilson driver as is occasionally reported. (Incidentally, I wonder if such reports were affected by... Read more

Patrick Reed won The Northern Trust golf tournament yesterday on the PGA Tour in Jersey City, New Jersey, by one stroke over Abraham Ancer. Jon Rahm, the 54-hole leader, finished tied for third. Reed, the 2018 Masters champ, has now won seven times on the PGA Tour. It was the first go-round for the FedExCup Playoffs. This win moved Reed into twelfth position for the President’s Cup, which is near the cutoff. Team captain Tiger Woods will have to decide... Read more
